Barnoldswick (North Yorkshire, England) analogue radio transmitter

UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).
Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Barnoldswick (North Yorkshire, England) mast?
No problems on any service.

I am thinking of buying a DAB. I live in Barnoldswick, Lancashire and will be using an external aerial. Has anyone any experience of the DAB signal in this area? Where is the DAB signal transmitted from, for Barnoldswick? I would be most grateful for any assistance.

Kevin: I'm not particularly familiar with DAB myself, but I suspect that different multiplexes that serve any one location will often be from different transmitters. Whether that is the case where you are, you will have to check out.
Ofcom publishes the technical information on DAB (and FM/AM) transmission sites here:

There is the BBC national multiplex, the commercial national multiplex, a "Central Lancashire" one and one for the North West.
The document shows that these all have transmitters sited at Pendle Forest. There may be other co-sited transmitters for these services in Lancashire, I haven't checked.

Many thanks for your input, gents. I'm about 150 meters above sea level here and intend to put an external aerial on the chimney stack. My digital tv signal is from East Marton so I'm hoping I can find a transmitter somewhere nearby in North Yorkshire. I'll let you know how I get on.

I have the DAB radio, currently with the internal bit of wire that came with it, and am getting a few stations, none of the BBC though, I am listening to smooth at the moment and getting 80kbps bit-rate and a signal strength that fluctuates between 50% and 98%. Hopefully the dipole I'm going to put on the chimney stack will improve things greatly.

Kevin: That sounds promising.
If it is the Central Lancashire multiplex that you are receiving (on 12A), then it is only broadcast from Pendle Forest and Winter Hill.
Try going upstairs to a window which faces Pendle Forest and take your DAB radio. Then see what you get.
