The continual early evening local news coverage has now been replaced with almost continual relay of 70s and 80s pop music TV. However Ofcom could have approved such a change is completely beyond me and is completely contrary to the concept of local T.V.

We should just be thankful that we no longer have a BBC monopoly in sound broadcasting as we did until 1973 when LBC and Capital Radio was licensed. There would have been no alternative listening after the death of Prince Phillip had the Bill to license local commercial radio not been passed back in 1972.

We should be thankful that we no longer have a BBC monopoly in sound broadcasting as without the Bill to allow local and later national commercial radio back in the 1970s there would have been no choice in radio listening from the UK after the death of Prince Phillip for the rest of the day he died on 9th April 2021 from midday when it was announced.

I recently emailed That's Solent TV asking them when they plan to restore their full local coverage and have yet to receive a reply for which I am not hopeful. What does that tell you about their interest in fulfilling their remit to Ofcom?

GBTV will have to try very hard to maintain an audience and the best way in which they can do this is by getting out on location and talking to people in the street on various national and international stories.

GB News was set up as an alternative to the rolling news channels to enable opinions to be expressed. They should extend this to out and about news opinion journalists and to enable those at home to join in on certain programmes by way of zoom.

The only surprising thing about the proposed privatisation of Channel 4 is that it hasn't been done before. There is no reason that providing their remit is the same as being state owned there is no reason why as a commercial broadcaster they should not be privatised.

In a country such as the UK and indeed now in most of the world the number of TV and radio stations have now reached saturation level so it is definitely in the media world the survival of the fittest.

It is surely about time that BBC 1 on HD screens the South Today news as SD has always done. ITV Meridean has always provided regional news on both formats.

Whatever has happened to That'sSolent TV? The continual early evening local news coverage has now been replaced with 70s and 80s pop music channels with only a 15 minute news coverage each evening. How could Ofcom ever have approved such a change?
