lee holt: The transmitter you are using is Waltham (Waltham in the Wolds). It is quite possible that the performance of the aerial on Mux2 (C23)is not as good as it is on the other frequencies as some wideband aerials do not work very well at the lowest frequencies. It is also possible that the position of the aerial needs a slight adjustment to pick up the Mux2 signal, or you are getting interference on C23. You might notice an improvement on 13th April 2011 when Mux 2 changes to a temporary frequency (C31). This will be used until DSO stage2 on 31st August 2011.

Keith Lyall: If you have a VCR or Sky box check that the RF modulator is not set to C34 or C35. Do you have any BBC1 etc in the channel list? If you do, clear the channel list by doing a restore to factory conditions. Then rescan for channels. If BBC1 etc are found before C34+ you will need to do a manual tune on C34 as a weak unusable Mux1 is being detected from another transmitter. If you are able check the signal strength and quality readings on C34 for clues to any reception problems.

Dezza: If your aerial is mounted with the rods horizontal and is pointing at 129deg. it is receiving from Waltham. If the rods are vertical and it is pointing at 146deg.it is receiving signals from Nottingham (Kimberley). A further check is the channels being received. Waltham currently uses C23, C26, C33, C42, C45, C49. Nottingham uses C29, C39, C53, C59, C63, C67. This is the case until 30th March after which alterations are made to the frequencies in use at both transmitters on various dates.

Indoor aerials | Installing
Sunday 9 January 2011 5:59PM

Jacko: Indoor aerials are very hit and miss and telescopic rods require very careful adjustment to the length to optimise performance. The RSJ could introduce reflections as can people walking about in the house. The signal would normally pass above and below the RSJ. If the signal is strong enough a modern indoor aerial might give acceptable results as long as the area is reasonably free of interference. If your tv is only used in one location it might be preferable to run a length of double screened coax from a splitter in the downlead of the rooftop aerial to the kitchen.

Kiwi:MuxC from Midhurst is transmitted on C64- which is co-channel with analogue ITV1 from Heathfield. This has the result of blocking reception of MuxC. As you say you should get all channels but to do so you would need to receive signals from Heathfield which according to the Digital UK postcode checker offers a full service on Freeview in your area.

Mark Heselden: The Digital UK postcode checker shows Reigate to offer good reception on all six muxes both before and after switchover for your area.

Ryan: According to the Digital UK postcode checker you are not expected to receive Mux2 or MuxA and have poor reception on Mux1 and MuxB.This is because reception of these muxes from Sutton Coldfield is affected by the analogue signals from Emley Moor which use the same frequencies. After switchover you are expected to receive all six muxes with good reception from both Sutton Coldfield and Emley Moor, S/C having the stronger signal for each mux.
