What can I do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fau
How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.
Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan
- Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.
- Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.
- Check cables and connectors are in good order.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.
Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB
If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.- Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu". - Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
- Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
- Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
- Press [SKY].
- Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
- Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
- Press [SKY].
Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software
If there are still problems:- Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
- Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
- Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message ââ¬â this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.
- Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

s: If you are referring to vertigo in relation to this condition being triggered by heights, then a satellite dish can be mounted at ground level and receive a signal just as strong as though it was mounted on a top of a tower block, as so the reference made vertigo is not really relevant to any problems with satellite reception as its really a case of how accurately a dish is aligned in the first place, as experience has proven that many aren't!

Ct19 6at. We have been through all of the online advise but it still says "box isn't getting satellite signal". What do we do now? Are there weather problems in this area? Is there a helpline?

Dmichael: Diagnosing satellite problems is far in a way easier than terrestrial based Freeview simply because if a dish has a clear view of the Southern skyline then it "has" to receive a signal, and this applies to anywhere in the UK.
As you mention that you have been through all the on line advice but this appears to be your first posting then maybe you could give a brief run down on what you have actually done, as it would save a great deal of possibly duplicated information being given.
Further advice given as appropriate, but please also mention if you are on a communal dish system or not.

one of my 4 skybox is skyminibox (Pace)& has been working fine for years. Recently picture &sound started getting frozen initially less frequently then progressively more & more and now shows either technical problem with the channel try later or message 'No signal received...unplug your box from main..plug it back..wait 5mins..etc..' . I 've repeatedly tried this instructions but in vain...'All other boxes are working fine...? Can someone please suggest the way forward....Do i have to buy a new box ..if i buy from internet at reasonable price...do sky engineer have to configure it ....or is my card not working...? Any solution will be appreciated.... Thanks <Teji>

Teji: Judging by what you have said is inclined to indicate that the boxes power unit is defective, this not exactly being an uncommon thing to happen, as the internal capacitors dry up through age / heat and this causes a drop in the voltage supplied to the boxes tuner, hence it either turns intermittent in operation or fails all together.
This said of course taking it that you have tried the box on one of the other boxes positions / feeds from the dish.
I cant quite determine if your card is a "free to view" type or you actually pay a monthly subscription to Sky, if the former then you dont require to do anything "or" even have the card inserted, although it is necessary to enable you to view the correct local news for your area, however if its the latter then just try it and it will possibly be OK, but if not you simply phone Sky and tell them you have a replacement box, they in turn will ask you for its serial number plus your card number, then they will OA (over air) download the changes into your card, this by the way can take about 3 or 4 hours on occasions.

Sky digibox shows no signal fault "36", tried everything that you suggest, LNB reset, forced software update. Signal is showing good strength, good quality & locked in, I have checked connections at LNB, even swapped them.(quad LNB)Its the multiroom box, the main box is working fine without any issues. Spoke to Sky they went through all the things that is already on here, to no avail. They want to send out an engineer @ £65, who will if he needs fit a recon box. Or I can upgrade to Sky HD for £5 a month(for 1 year, then its £10 a month extra!Saving £5 overall... My parents stay accross the street from me & have been using a sky digibox for freesat, up until last weekend when they have had exactly the same problem, (its still not resolved) Now its just too much of a coincidence that this has happened to us both, no way 2 box's go just like that at the same time!!! there has been no adverse weather etc lately so thats not an issue.Sky adament that they are sending out an engineer or selling me an upgrade! Little do they know that there speaking to an electricial & I cannot see what more the engineer is going to do, as I have checked all connection/terminations etc.... Your thoughts please?

CONRAD: Provided a communal dish system does not come into the equation then the problem at both residences has to be coincidental, as nothing can stop satellite reception.
When you say that you have a good signal what levels are shown on the indicators? as satellite reception is exactly like Freeview insomuch that under a certain signal level the picture will vanish, and in the case of satellite both signal strength and quality has to be about 55%+ or reception will cease even although all looks OK on the indicators.
If you find that the indications are under the levels mentioned then this points to the dish being a fraction out of alignment, this usually in the horizontal (left / right) plane and caused by strong winds having moved it whereby a slight nudge on either the left or RHS of the dish can correct the problem.
Maybe you could give an update on checking the levels again.

Hello,
we live in the Republic of Ireland and yesterday our Sky+HD box started to say " NO SATELLITE SIGNAL BEING RECIEVED".
we have tried all the things mentioned above except realigning the dish- not sure how to do it!
Any help be much appriciated, especially ways to fix problem for free as we are broke to the ropes!
Thank you!
