What can I do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fau
How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.
Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan
- Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.
- Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.
- Check cables and connectors are in good order.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.
Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB
If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.- Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu". - Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
- Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
- Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
- Press [SKY].
- Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
- Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
- Press [SKY].
Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software
If there are still problems:- Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
- Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
- Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message ââ¬â this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.
- Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

JohnC: For satellite, the box can instruct the LNB to select high or low frequency range, and vertical or horizontal polarization. In communal systems, the LNB instead outputs each combination - Lo/H, Lo/V, Hi/H, Hi/V - on a separate cable, and the four cables are connected to a multiswitch. The wall socket(s) in your flat are connected to that multiswitch, which selects the correct output depending on what the box is sending on that cable.
You cannot split a satellite feed cable for multiple boxes, because the signals either don't make it back to the LNB or multiswitch, or the splitter only passes the signals from one leg - the second tuner won't be able to select the correct range and polarization for the channel you've selected.
If you're just using a single cable to the one wall socket, and it still doesn't work, then the answer is probably a bad connection or water ingress into one of the cables from the LNB to the multiswitch.

i have already tried all those ideas but no luck...
please advice what else i can try..

ashok: You have either a problem with your box - which you could verify by taking to another flat and trying it there; or your connection from the communal system has failed.

Briantist/Mike Dimmick. Thanks for you replies. The channels I am missing are all on an horizontal polarity, but I do receive some which are also horizontal which is a little confusing! I'll take a copy of your replies to our office & then see if they'll at least look into it.

Hello
i was wondering if i could pick someones brains ?
i have sky + downstairs and i have sky upstairs but it never worked properly so i thought i would use the box to recieve freeview via the sky box already installed, however it will only pick up one channel BBC1 all the other free view channels are either no signal or technical fault. i have the one dish and sky + works perfectly downstairs but the upstairs one doesnt appear to be connected. what am i doing wrong and how do i get it to work correctly
the tv it is connected to apparently also comes with free view
oh by the way i dont have an aerial was planning on using the dish as my source

ness: Freeview doesnt really come into the equation, although I think you are just using this term to describe non subscription Sky channels.
As you have two Sky boxes, one being a Sky+ box, then you require your dish to be fitted with a quad LNB, that of it having four outlets, two being used for the Sky+ box and the third for the second Sky box, the fourth output not used.
Should be said though, that you have to subscribe to Sky for the Sky+ box or you will not be able to record on it. Likewise you will require a "Free to view" card from Sky (£25.00) or you will not be able to view a number of ITV stations as well as 5* 5US etc.

ness: Also meant to include, if none of your Sky boxes receive anything the chances are that your dish might be out of alignment.

Ellon
Ive had a problem since June. It did seem to improve for a while although I lost a few channels. However in the last fortnight things have gone downhill and I have no channels at all. The technician has checked everything and says its the quality of the signal that is the problem.

christine henderson: The reception predictor indicates that you should be able to have good reception from either Durris (@ 28miles) or your local Ellon station.(@ 2miles)
When you say that you have lost some channels are you meaning programmes like ITV3/ QVC etc? as if you are then you wont get them from Ellon, as its a Freeview light transmitter and only broadcasts public services.
To receive the full service you would have to use Durris, and I suspect that this is what the technician was referring to when he/she (PC!) mentioned the signal quality.
Have a look at your aerial, if its mounted with the elements vertical then you are using Ellon, but if they are horizontal then it should be directed towards Duris.
OR try a signal check on BBC1, if you see Mux Ch45 that's from Ellon, whereas if its Mux Ch28 thats Durris.

We have BT Vision and since upgrade cannot receive BBC2/ITV/Ch4/Ch5 and a few others - we have to switch over to analogue and picture is dreadful (and this will be shutting down soon) Ariel is huge and on the roof - should we contact BT vision or is this a signal problem? Have done all the resets etc. many times. Thanks
