What can I do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fau
How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.
Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan
- Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.
- Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.
- Check cables and connectors are in good order.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.
Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB
If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.- Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu". - Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
- Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
- Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
- Press [SKY].
- Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
- Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
- Press [SKY].
Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software
If there are still problems:- Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
- Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
- Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message ââ¬â this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.
- Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

Ian: There is no requirement for the Sky box to be connected to the phone line, unless you use the "Box Office".

Hi guys just a question, we recenlt had an old panasonic sky box and had it replaced by insurence people with a 2nd hand SKY HD box that was put in the living room, now ive had on ein my room since december 2009 and no problems.
the living room one within 2-3weeks has sometimes frozen, changed channels yet no picture on screen hence turning it off and switching it back on again, the system doesnt boot up as soon as you turn the mains on it kicks in like 20seconds later.
Should I pester SKY for a completeley new box?
Also my sat dish is on the side of the house and when it rains like real heavy the picture goes all distorted and sometimes says the 'no signal' etc would it be better if i moved the dist to a more sheltered area of the house?

lee: As far as the problem with your picture is concerned, press "services - 4 - 6" and check what the signal strength / quality is indicating, both bars should be reasonably close to each other at about 75% or so, if they are not the dish requires slight re-aligning.
Misalignment can also be a contributory factor regarding the problem when raining, although it has to be said that heavy downpours can cause this to happen even if the dish was perfectly set up, and moving it to a more sheltered spot doesn't make any difference, as its the rain content in the clouds that is partially blocking the microwave signal path, although larger dishes are slightly more immune to this problem by catching more of the signal.
Sky boxes don't usually boot up straight away, and so I wouldn't consider this to be a fault.

I have a Technomatic TM-5200D free to air satellite reciever which has been working fine and live in a tower block with a communal system. But recently I lost the following channels: BBC2,3,4, CBS Action, CBS Reality+1, Horror Channel, Horror+1.Tried rescanning but no luck. Some other people in the block have had the same problem but the office claims there is nothing wrong. Can you advise?

JohnC: This is probably caused by the "communial system" not dealing with the signal that the satellite receiver sends it to say "switch polarity".
The services you are missing will be on transponders with the same polarity.
This is very clearly something for "the office" to sort out if it effects more than one box.

MR M JACKSON: I would turn the power off and fully check the two satellite inputs on the back of the box are in perfect order. Check there is NOT ONE single stray bit of the outer shielding touching the "central wire".
Power back on, and then do this:
Press [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]. Nothing is shown on the TV screen until you press the Select button.
Then use the [RIGHT] arrow button on the remote until the REBUILD PLANNER screen is shown, and press SELECT do the rebuild.
