What can I do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fau
How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.
Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan
- Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.
- Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.
- Check cables and connectors are in good order.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.
Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB
If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.- Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu". - Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
- Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
- Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
- Press [SKY].
- Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
- Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
- Press [SKY].
Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software
If there are still problems:- Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
- Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
- Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message ââ¬â this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.
- Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

David Potter: Well, now that the LHS/RHS aspect has been clarified (your reply on the 5th @10.54am having somewhat swayed me) then yes!, as the tuner associated with LNB2/dish 2's input would appear to be defective. However, the various tests you carried were not necessarily a waste of time, as they are applicable to "both" tuners used in the box.
That said, there is one (and only one) procedure that can be carried out where one tuner can be singled out from the other, that being by selecting "single input mode" on the box, this procedure killing the power supply on dish input 2's side of the box, then "after" completion of the process reverting the box back to normal, the idea being that this might possibly shock the tuner into operation again, if though it doesn't, then I'm afraid that there isn't anything else to try.
By the way, the single input mode as you have possibly noticed, is in the LNB set up screen.
Just in case you were wondering, the single input mode is not really of any assistance to you "if" you are wishing the record programmes, as you can only record a programme being broadcast on the same transponder (satellite equivalent of a Freeview multiplex) as you might be viewing.

A few days ago when we had summer for a day, my picture on screen went into pixels, froze and then I got a message about a fault. I put this down to the weather. I switched on again and got reception. But now I get nothing. The skydigibox just has the red stand by light. The TV sits with a dead screen with 17 top right corner.
I just have a fre sky viewing card, I don't pay for any Sky TV packages.
Any assitance would be helpful as it's the Grand Prix tomorrow.

in particular movies.I cannot for the life of me understand why as I have never had freeview on both the tvs I have 2 boxes .Both tvs are old and I need to get a new one .I want one of the ones with a dvd on the tv.

patricia mayall: No TV will have 'Sky', its just a service delivered by a sperate box, and you can normally just connect such a box up to any TV. I dont know if you have an aerial or not, in addition to your dish, but if you do, then you can just use that if you want.
If you were a customer of mine, then this is the advice I would give regarding a new TV. Size is everything, but if you are about 7-8 feet from your TV, then a 32in would probably be fine. Around 10 feet away and a 40-42in TV would be fine. It should have Freeview HD and Full HD would be nice. I'd like at least 2 HDMI sockets, but more would be better. And since you are on the interenet, a smart TV would be useful. An good choice for you would be the Samsung 32J5500 - Buy Samsung UE32J5500 LED HD 1080p Smart TV, 32" with Freeview HD and Built-In Wi-Fi | John Lewis . At £269 its a very good deal, although if you spent more money you'd get a better screen, and therefore a slightly better picture. They do a 4500 model in a 22in and 32in, which would work very well as bedroom TV's.
The only downside for you if you want to carry on using your Sky box is that the set has no scart socket, which you might need. In that case, the excellent Sony 705 would be a good alternative http://www.johnlewis.com/…9520 , although more expensive. In fact that TV also has a tuner you can attach to your dish, so you might not need the old Sky box.
I would advise you to go to a proper shop with some information as to the sizes of the room, and how you get a signal for your TV (aerial, dish, etc), and ask questions. Be realistic in terms of price, stick to Sony, LG or Samsung (I can't recommend a Panasonic HD TV this year), and dont go to a catalogue shop or a supermarket - most TV's there are not very good, and you will often end up paying more money than you need.

Anne Robinson: If your Sky reception is via a normal dish and which is your own property, then the problem could be caused by the dish having moved slightly out of alignment, this if more than a few degrees always usually resulting in a "no signal" message.
If you are using a normal Sky box? try disconnecting it from the mains for a few minutes before powering it up again, as this procedure can resolve all sorts of box problems, "not" the dish though!

Done all of the above -- still "no signal", this is on a secondary box, the main tele is ok so not a problem with the dish -- checked all connections, all good, green light turns on shows no signal and counts down from 5 minutes -- sounds like a new box ???
