I have a Panasonic TV with integrated Freeview how can I record Freeview channel
Brian Butterworth published on UK Free TV If you want to record Freeview channels you need a device with a Freeview receiver in it. Just as your VCR has its own analogue tuner in it, if you want to record a Freeview channel you need a suitable device.
You can buy PVRs (personal video recorders) or DVD recorders (or combined devices) which are suitable for recording Freeview. I highly recommend the former as no tapes are required and the programs can be chosen to record with a single button press from the electronic programme guide.

Barry : With reference to the connection / recording facilities on your Bush TV, it should be appreciated that the USB recording feature is purely operable from the TV's internal Freeview tuner and "not" from any device (ie: Sky box) that happens to be connected into any of the TV's input sockets.
My only reason for pointing this out is because of you having made reference to a viewing card, which its assumed is the Sky boxes viewing card? my thinking being that you are possibly intending to record a programme from the Sky box into a flash drive via the TV, which of course cannot be done.

Jim ballantyne : Yes. In fact if you have a spare LNB on your dish, you can continue running Sky and use Freesat at the same time.

I am thinking of buying a new tv to run with a satellite signal. The TV's all say they have a built in freeview tuner. will they work from a sat signal.

Jim johnston: No, as Freeview TV's which are also capable of Freesat satellite reception are fitted with two tuners, one for each operating mode, therefore you will have to ensure that any TV you are interested in has the two operating modes listed in the specifications for same.
Apart from that said, if you are browsing around the TV's displayed in larger "walk round" department stores you can tell which models are capable of satellite reception simply by looking at the sockets on the rear of the sets , models capable of satellite reception being fitted with a threaded male socket as well as the usual female coaxial socket.
Of course, its assumed that you are aware that a satellite dish is required for Freesat reception?.

jb38: Just to clarify things - all four big brands (Samsung/Sony/Panasonic/LG) will have Freeview HD tuners as pretty much standard. Those four brands will also supply models with sat. tuners, either actual Freesat, or a generic sat. tuner. As JB38 said, have a look on the back, and you will see a single F fitting, or two (for more expensive models).
Since we are about to go to 2016 models, the best I can say for 2015 models is that Sony/LG will have a genertic tuner (but two on top 4K models). For Panasonic and Samsung, their higher end 4K models will have Freesat tuners.
If you dont want 4K, your limited to Sony/LG, and a single generic tuner only. Dont assume all models have them, but a decent 2D model and above is likely to.

Will I be able to watch and record freeview tv through my sky plus hd box? I've cancelled sky but I pay them 10 a month so that I can watch and record bt sport but I would also like to record freeview as well or is there a recordable freeview box with a viewing card so that I could watch and record bt sport on?
