Su: As far as the Freeview HD TV is concerned it "has" to be connected to a normal aerial, so if you want to use your old Sky+ box (without a card) with it as well then you will require a connection being made to the dish, which by the way only requires to be a single cable as the old Sky+ box can only be used as a normal box due to the recording and playback facilities being inoperable without a valid subscription card being installed.
The other point is that your dishes LNB will require to be changed to a quad type "if" the one already fitted is only a dual version, quad outlet blocks generally being around £10.00 or so from numerous e-bay outlets, but you should have a look at where the cables enter the LNB to see if it has two spare outlet points before making any purchase.

I have a Panasonic freesat tv, I have two leads from a sky dish(previously had sky+). I have tried plugging one lead into the satellite port on the tv but the tv cannot detect it.
Where do I go from here?

Dear All,
I need help with with a specific situation.
I live in a block of flats and have only 1 feed. I just called Sky to find out what they can do about it so I can watch 1 programme and record another but was told to get a dual feed splitter F cable.
I am a woman and do not know much about this things can anyone please advise on the dual splitter f cable to get and how to go about this and also does this work?

Coco: You cannot split a feed cable from a satellite dish, the reason being that the satellite box whether Sky or Freesat sends commands to the dish in the form of two different voltages and which is either high or low depending on the programme being viewed, this being why two separate feeds are required as the programme being viewed might be on high whereas the one being recorded requires low.

Hello
I currently have Sky Plus but want to use a pre-paid PVR I have received from my parents.
Id ideally like to keep my Sky Plus so I can record & I like how its so user friendly.
The problem is that the PVR requires at least one of the two cables required for the Sky Plus.
I understand I need two cables to record via Sky Plus but rather than constantly swapping wires to use the PVR or to record on Sky Plus, is there an item I can use to plug the wires into so the PVR can be used when Im not recording via Sky Plus?
The satellite dish is based at the other end of the house so adding a new feed would be a very expensive & disruptive job.
Just looking for an easier solution, any ideas?

Kieran S: Assuming that you are referring to a Freesat PVR then these also require two input feeds, meaning that you really require to have what's known as a "shotgun" type of twin coax to be run from the dishes LNB provided its fitted with a quad block, as otherwise this would require changing.
There isn't really anything you can do with the cables as such as they cannot be shared or interfered with in any way, but though if you set the Sky+ box to record whatever and wanted to use the PVR on one channel, then you could temporarily swap the Sky+ boxes No1 input over to the PVR as its the Sky boxes No2 input that's used for recording, although I would try a test recording on the Sky+ box just to ensure that your particular device operates that way.

Hi there can someone please help I have put extension feeds on my sky so I can move my tv now I can't record without losing another channel and I can't access box office !
I have tried switching over the leads turning everything off.Taking phone line out and placing back in to no avail?

Marvin: Remove LNB No2 input to the box and select BBC 101, if you can view it OK leave it on the BBC and swap the "F" connector / coax over with the No2 input you had previously removed and make sure that BBC has returned, if not then there is a faulty connection to the "F" plug or somewhere along the line as what you have mentioned suggests that one of the two inputs are faulty.
Needless to say though that if by removing No2 input nothing is seen then its No1's input thats faulty, as the No2 input on a Sky+ box goes to the tuner used for recording.

Hi all,
I have Sky+ in the living room with 2 feeds and sky multiroom in bedroom one with a dual feed cable however only one feed is connected as the box is not Sky+. I am looking to self install multiroom in bedroom 2. Rather than pay someone, I am planning to split the cable upstairs and put the unused feed from bedroom one into bedroom. i already have a spare box and will get a viewing card from Sky. Will this work? Grateful for any help.

AndyW: If only one of the twin feeds to the bedrooms "standard" Sky box is being used then you can extend the one that's not used to feed another "standard" box located in another bedroom, this done by simply using a length of satellite grade coax with "F" connectors at each end and an "F" coupler used between the unused second feed and your extension.
A Sky box will work without a card except for one or two channels like Sony TV 157 etc, but you can check what you will see by simply removing the card from the standard Sky box and running through the EPG list.
By the way the viewing card, unless Sky's "free to view" is being referred to) only gives access to channels that are dedicated to a Sky package and likewise requires a subscription.
