I have split the signal from my satellite dish and now nothing works.
It is not possible to split the signal from a satellite dish.
If you want more than one signal from the dish, you must connect a quad-LNB and feed a signal from it to each dish

Kerry Hogg: Yes, get a Freesat box from a local store. See All about Freesat | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

Hi Briantist
I am switching to Freesat from Sky+ and have 2 LNBs from my dish. My Humax Foxsat has 2 LNB in sockets and 1 LNB out. Can I use this out to feed my Sky+ box as it has a RF out which I have boosted and circulated to other rooms so that I can use my old analogue monitors to view what I am watching through the Humax? Unfortunately the Humax has no RF out which is surprising.

Phil: No, the Sky+ box is not compatible with the LNB out.
Most modern boxes do not have analogue outputs, if you want to do that, you can get an RF modulator:
Programmable Universal Modulator : AV Accessories : Maplin
for example.

Hi Briantist
Can I use a powered splitter for Sky+/HD or must I use two coax's back to the LNB?

Gary: You cannot split leads between an LNB and the receiving device, this applying whether it be Sky or Freesat, as the connections between both have to be totally independent of each other.

Hi I was wondering if you can help me. I've just purchased a freesat box to use in the bedroom. We live in a flat with a shared satellite feed. A feed comes into which is then split into the lounge and the main bedroom. I've set up the freesat box in the bedroom, which set up and worked fine, but then suddenly stopped. After some playing around we discovered that if the sky box is on in the lounge, the freesat doesn't work in the bedroom and vice versa. Is there anyway around this, with a booster example or anything? Help!

Ryan: You have two options.
a) Leave cabling as is and switch off Sky box in lounge when you go to bed, leaving your new freesat box to singularly get all the signal. or
b) connect your bedroom feed to RF2 on your lounge Sky box, open up RF2 in Installer Menu, (Services, 4,0,1,) select an output channel between 21 and 69 and put the other end of the coax DIRECT into your bedroom TV aerial socket. Tune the TV (Analogue) to get the Sky channel. To change channels you will need to fit a Magic eye to the bedroom cable before it goes into the aerial socket. Vision do a good one with a small eye and a tail for around £5, available on Ebay. You do not connect the Freesat box if you use this option. (Vision TVLink)
Otherwise you can run a second feed to the distribution box for the flat to make use of your freesat box, but you would need to clear it with the flat owners, or if all the flat tenants pressurised the owner to fit twin cables for all, you could get Sky to do it under FSD.

For all you Sky Freesat people who are still using the blue and yellow (or no card) in your box, you can get Ch5 by doing the following and save yourself the £25 it costs for a white card
Services/4/4
Frequency 10773
Polarisation H (Toggle arrow right)
Symbol Rate 22.0 (Toggle Arrow right)
FEC 5/6 (Ditto)
Find channels
When channel list comes up, scroll down to Channel 5, press yellow button to select, press Select to store.
Channel 5 is now available to view on Services/Other Channels without a card.
You can do the same with your regional ITV, if you know the Frequency etc. (See Lyngsat web-page for that).
Your local BBC1 channel is available from 971 upwards. BBC2 from 990 upwards.

Trying not to get to boring -- just saw this item and wondered.... When I renovated my house a few years ago I ran a single cable to various rooms and plastered them in. I run Freesat boxes at the end as cannot get terrestrial tele. I would like to update box to freesat recorder and reluctant to run a separate cable to lnb on outside of house. Is there a way I can separate the single cable to effectively two receivers at the room end. If so what do I need and how much. --- Stephen
