My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

bill whyte: See Digital Region Overlap. My guess is that your main TV simply stores the first version it finds, not the best quality or strongest: the Belmont transmissions are on the lowest frequencies.

Hi,
I have been searching the web and found this page, I hope someone can help.
We were forced to go digital so opted for Sky+ HD in the lounge (got a good deal). The signal from this is fed up to a splitter in the loft and populated from there. But that means that there is only one TV channel that can be watched all over the house and I am fed up with watching Football!
We have an old sky box and card which is not in service. Is there any way that we can use this or anything else to get another channel into the bedroom TVs. We were thinking of putting a Freeview ariel in the loft and a box on the TV, but if I can get more out of the Sky connection I would feel that the money was better spent.
All help gratefully received.

jane: You can use the old Sky box provided your dish has a spare output stub on it, and the fact of you using Sky+ could mean that it might have as the engineer that installed the dish may have fitted a quad block onto the arm rather than a dual version, the cost of the former only being fractionally more than the latter.
Although its not always that easy to see as the connection plugs are slightly shrouded, but have a look at where the cables go into the LNB to see if there is any spare outlets, if there is then it requires a cable to be run from it to your Sky box.
Should of course there not be then the LNB requires changing to a quad type, these being roughly under £10.00 from numerous e-bay outlets and is a simple job to change over, nothing really complicated.

Peter, they may be on the higher numbers, I lost a few today but find they are there in the high numbers. You need to clear your old channels completely and check the high numbers to see if they are there. i.e. I have lost 'Yesterday' etc on 12 but found it on 0851.

I've reset everything, cleared all channels and did the above method of turning the plugs off etc.
I thought it may be the TV which is a Sanyo CE32DFN2-B, would that need a digital converter?

Peter: Your TV cannot respond to 8K transmission mode signals, so you will have to use a Freeview or Freesat box with it, this in effect turning the TV into a monitor.
