My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Q Have been to my 80 year old moms today to retune her tv, she has a 6 month old panasonic vijera with freeview and lives in solihull , west midlands,B904HZ. She has a aerial on the roof and a guy has been round at a cost of £40.00 to check the signal which he said was good.Until a month ago she had cable from Virgin which she has disscontinued and wants to use freeview to save money.I have retuned twice only to find there are no HD channels , on the channel list no. 50 which was BBC ! HD does not exist numbers go from 49 then jump to 70??. Is this because of the changeover or did the guy which checked it get it wrong? look forward to comments....

Hi Mazbar, thanks for that, since she lives 40 miles away l cannot check that until tomorrow, the telly is only 6 months old so l thought it would work!!(how wrong can you be)..Perhaps l will have another bash at it tomorrow. The aerial on the roof is far from new and l was wondering will it need to be replaced or maybe can l get one of those amplifiers??Its just the cost of stuff that is the problem, cant really afford to get another guy in.. Thanks..:)

i was asked to do a retune on my freeview+ about 3 weeks ago, since then i lost 20+ channels and the sky signal on the tv with magic eye is rubbish, tried another re-tune on the freeview+ tonight and lost another 20+ channels. before this initial re-tune everything was working perfectly. any ideas anyone? (tacloneston mast - norfolk).

Before they started switchover on Emley Moor I could get every freeview channel with perfect clarity on two TVs each served by their own aerial and good quality cable - I can see Emley Moor mast so no problems with line of sight etc.
Retuned as instructed three times since then on both TVs and it's a nightmare! One TV has all channels, but many are blocky, the other TV has gaps in the channel line up which change every time I retune.
I'm waiting until full switchover in a couple of weeks, but it is far from the smooth process all the UK Digital spin doctors say it should be. I am now in a worse situation - any chance of a licence refund until it is sorted? Thought not!
