My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Thanks for that update. I'm getting the impression that RestoreTV admin aren't doing as good a job as they might! Let us know how it goes, especially like to see the updated SQ and SL figures :)

All sorted! It appears the problem was down to a loose connection on the aerial wall socket in the living room where the TV aerial lead plugs in. According to the engineer's readings, the mobile phone signals were minimal and not enough to cause the level of interference I was experiencing.
It appears I may have been operating on lower signal quality all this time completely unaware there was a problem until the engineering works started which meant reduced power and therefore further reduced signal quality resulting in picture loss.
The engineer replaced the TV aerial cable and wall socket and also fitted a blocker in the aerial cable in the loft to prevent any possible mobile phone mast interference in the future.
The readings on all multiplexes on SQ are at 100 and the SL at high 90s.
It's all done now and hopefully this is it for the time being lol!
Before all this, I never heard of Restore TV. Thank you Chris for your help, advice and education : )

Hi Carol. That sounds like a great job that the Restore TV engineer has done for you. SQs of 100 is just what you should have and SLs in the 90s is just right.
Most people won't have heard of Restore TV unless they've had a postcode from them which is when mobile interference is most likely, but we are coming across a good number of people that should have had a postcard and haven't (according to their own database!). Yours wasn't one, but we are also find a few that should have been and a filter has resolved the problem. At least you are future proofed.
Good luck and thanks for coming back and giving us a full update.

G Crawford : Do you have Sky Mix on 11 and Really on 17?
If not then it looks to be a reception issue. I say this because these channels are carried on the same multiplex (same signal) as Sky Arts on 36. They are all on COM5 / Arq A multiplex.
A full list of Freeview programme channels, including multiplex ('mux'), is here:

G Crawford :
As you haven't given a full postcode we don't know which transmitter you might be receiving and can't check your predicted reception.
A number of transmitters are having planned engineering which MAY be affecting your reception BUT if you are getting Sky Mix LCN11 and Really on LCN17 and not having reception problems (no pixellation or no signal) with any channels, then it may be an idea to do a full MANUAL retune BUT we need to know which transmitter to advise the UHF channels.

The HD channels from Mendip on my Freeview Humax box keep cutting out. The signal strength varies from 0% to 80%. The other channels are fine, with 100% signal strength. This is a recent problem.
Any idea why?
