To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Same problems experienced here and with my Mothers TV. Seems to be a big problem.

Andrea: True Entertainment and True Movies have moved to the local TV multiplex are are therefore now only available in areas where a local TV station can be received on either channel 7 or 8. This decision has been taken by Sony who are the owner of the True family of channels.

I would never have know this if it wasn't poster here.
Radio Times has True Entertainment as channel 48 but True Movies is not listed.
My set did not need a retune to get these channels.

I have a lOGIK HD ready 1080 Digital LED TV which I use with a Humax freeview Play HD recorder to enable me to record TV programmes. Initially I could not get any signal on the TV until I bought a screened lead to connect the set top box to the TV. Until the past month or more I could receive all BBC and ITV programmes with no problems. However, I now find that in the evenings, from about 19.00 all the ITV programmes only produce the message that the signal is non-existent or too weak. The BBC programmes are not affected. During the day all the ITV programmes can be accessed..
I live in a Care Home where I assume we all use a common aerial for our rooms. Because I have to use a screened cable as described above it may be that the signal is always weak here. I have tried re-tuning when the ITV channels are missing but this has not cured the problem. Is there any way that I can boost the signal in the evenings ? It seems odd that all the iITV programmes separate from the BBC programmes in behaviour in the evenings yet are all present during the day.
I would be grateful for any suggestions that will cure the problem. Thank you for your attention to my problem. Keith Parsons

Keith Parsons: If you are connected to a communal aerial system (which is very likely in a care home) there should be a distribution amplifier to ensure the all rooms have sufficient signal strength. Have you checked whether any other residents in your care home are suffering with the same problem? If they are, ask the care home to get someone to check the aerial system.

Hi
From the last Freeview re tuning,I can t see any of the Com 7 and Com 8 channels.I live near Staines, TW19.Is this a problem previously reported by other people ?
Usually,I dont do a full retune of all channels,but just a partial re-tune(Manual re-scan) for the each group of channels (Multiplex I think is called).For example I did the same with the Movies for men channel now ,and it worked,but doesn t work with those two C55 and C56.I mean there s no message at all to say that it needs re-tuning, on that group of channels is just ^no service running^.
Can you help pls?

MIHAI :

The changes to the channels used at Crystal Palace means that you now need a wideband aerial instead of the original Group A type as that is very poor at the higher channels numbers, such as Channels 55 and 56.

If you contact Freeview on 0808 100 0288 and they may offer you a free replacement erial as long as you do not have cable or satellite services alongside Freeview.

You turned off channel 61 on 27.6.19 cannot tune to 48 - my husband watches this channel all the time, but so far no channel - understood from Freeview help that this is because the bristol receiver is working - so people in bristol can receive channel 48, but the receivers down to the mendip receiver are such a low amount of power that everybody living in Somerset cannot receive channel 48. asked if engineers were sorting this problem out was told that - no - you might look into it sometime next year. is there any way that you can deal with this earlier? thank you

PAMELA COLLINGS:

This site is an independant help site & has nothing to do with channel or mux changes, switching things on or off.
The local mux at the Mendip Transmitter (for Bristol) is beamed north towards Bristol & S.Glos.
It was Sony who chose to move the channels to local muxes where they are transmitted. We'd suggest you complain to them, see see True Entertainment | free and easy for full information about the changes and how to complain.

If you provide a full postcode (or put it into Digital UK - Coverage checker ) then you'll see the predicted coverage you can get. If you tell us here we might be able to offer other advice.
