My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Since the switchover, NONE of our channels work properly. You will switch one on, from the guide, and within a couple of seconds the channel will simply cut to black. For a while, we could repeatedly go from guide to channel and the station would be viewable, but now nothing is viewable at all, other than Film4, which for some reason was the only one that didn't work at all before. On BBC when the station cuts to black, we get the message:
"Due to technical difficulties, the service you require is currently unavailable. Please try again later."
We have always had perfect signal receiving all channels, and since the switchover, none of our channels work properly and our vcr has completely stopped working.

Hi all,
We have an outside aerial, about 5 years old, receiving from Mendip. Used booster in loft to supply 2 TVs, all was fine until recently when several channels became unwatcheable, think it is MUX C. We like watching DAVE (ch19), but after retuning the main set (New Samsung series 6, MUX C seems to have vanished from the EPG. Haven't retuned the Humax PVR, so they are still listed, but signal showas typically 60& with 0% quality.
Any ideas what has happened?
Thanks

i would really like to get dave ja back as it was 75% of my viewing but if its not coming back 3e looks good

Dear Brian,
First of all, thank you very much for all your useful comments on your website. We thought our Sky digibox was outdated, but thanks to your suggestions, we now have most of our channels back!
I have a question and wonder whether you can help? We live temporarily in Holland but will move back to the UK in the near future. We watch English TV through a satelite and an (old) Sky digibox, using a blue sky card that gives us the free channels. We are considering buying a new plasma TV in the UK with a build-in Freeview HD. If we plug the Sky digibox into this TV, would we be able to watch (1) HD channels, and/or (2) Freeview channels that are not on Freesat from Sky (e.g. Five USA, Dave).
Furthermore, do you know whether a new UK plasma TV would work in Holland (ofcourse I will change the plug)?
Thanks again for all your help

Frank: Having a Freeview HD TV set won't change in any way what your existing Sky box can do.
You will only get Freeview HD from a rooftop aerial in a suitable area - see Should I buy Freeview HD for Christmas? | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .
All UK electrical equipment will work in Holland, but most viewers their use the cable TV system.

conor: If you get a Freeview HD or BT Vision box you will be able to watch the channels from the Republic of Ireland.

James: There are plenty of things to check at the top of the page, but loss of all services usually means your aerial is broken.

One of my dig TVA suddenly stopped receiving all signal except BBC. It is fed from a cable from a thee way splitter but is ok if connected in the other room where one of other leads go to. This suggests that a problem exists in the actual cable feeding th tv but why is BBC ok and nothing else?
