My Sky box has a "no signal message" - what do I do?
If you are getting the message "no signal" this would indicate that there is a problem with the signal from your dish into your box. Even without a card inserted into a Sky Digibox, if there is a signal, you will always get Sky Guide and the free channels.
Try powering off your box, remove the card, check carefully the cables, especially the connection to the dish, reapply the power and then when asked to insert your card you should then be able to see (for example) Sky News on 501 and the BBC News channel on 503.
Once you can see any channel, reinsert your card. This should, after about one minute, give you the channels you expect, such as 103, 104 and 105.
There are three ways you can attempt to reset your box. Please see
What can my do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' ?.
If you continue to get "No signal", you dish may have been misaligned, or there may be a fault with the cables and connectors, or a problem with the Digibox. You can see the signal strength by pressing SERVICES, then 4-SYSTEM SETUP and 6-SIGNAL STRENGTH.

Hi, I have a sky box in my livingroom and sky plus in my bedroom, lately the signal gets lost on the sky plus box! I have turned it off and on, checked cables etc, there has been no extreme weather and the ordinary sky box is working fine!
I have just done a signal text and I seem to have good signal strength one minute and none the next!
Can you help me please?

Gerard: Purely for a test you should try the ordinary Sky box in the Sky+ boxes position, as although the ordinary Sky box only has one input you can test each of the two inputs used by the Sky+ box in turn, as one of them might be found to be intermittently cutting out, this either through a faulty connection within the "F" connector(s) (fine strand of wire shorting) or even the output port on the dish being faulty.

Hi i have a Thomson Sky + box and this morning i found that there was a sign on the screen saying no signal.I have done all the checks Updated software also disconnected power etc..
I finished paying for sky nearly 12 months ago but continued to receive free view channels through sky I am sure i am now around my 1st anniversary of not having sky and i am now starting to think maybe sky has stopped the signal from my sky + box.
Please Please Please can you help !!!

Richard: Its not anything to do with Sky as they cannot stop you from viewing normal channels, try pressing "Services" then 4 - 6 and see what the signal / quality level is indicating, as your dish might have been blown slightly out of alignment.

Michelle: What you report suggests that either the cable leading from the box to the dish is defective in some way or that its the LNB's outlet port used on the dish that's faulty, but if neither then obviously its the box thats faulty.
To determine which, (box or dish) I would temporarily try the box in question on the No1 boxes position, as you have no other way of knowing if its a dish / cable fault or the box.

david: Although you may well have tried all of the things mentioned it would appear by what you say that it was whilst the box is in its present position, so you should take it upstairs and try it in one of the standard boxes positions, as if it works up there then there has to be a problem with the downstairs aerial feed.
What arrangement are you using to feed the signal from the aerial three ways? as unless you have a really strong signal then it should be done via a 3/4 way powered splitter.

david: Just to add, what I mentioned was assuming that its Freeview you are referring to, if its Satellite then obviously the feeds to the boxes will be individual ones from the dishes Quad LNB.
Trying the box upstairs still applies though!
