Mendip transmitter - January 11th retune required
At the moment, viewers using the Mendip transmitter are unable to subscribe to Sky Sports 1 and 2 via BT Vision and/or Top Up TV - see BT Vision, TUTV, Sky Sports 1+2 and the Mendip transmitter - ukfree.tv.
To deal with this, on 11th January 2011, Multiplex D will change from being broadcast on C59+ in 16QAM mode, and switch to be the "normal" Arqiva B multiplex (10kW ERP) on C67 in 64QAM mode.
It will stay there until it moves to C52 on 28 September 2011. This date also sees Multiplex COM4/SDN move from C62+ to C48 and COM5/ARQA move from C56+ to C56.
In summary - if you use Mendip - even if you don't use Sky Sports, you must retune again on 11th January 2011.
When you retune - use a "first time installation" or do this - My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong
Note: This event is not part of the digital switchover process, and is not being managed by Digital UK, but by Arqiva and ITV.
If you have any questions, please call ITV on 0844 881 4150.

Please Help!! Mendip Transmitter Problems.
I re-tuned on 18th January and retrieved ITV4,FILM4 & YESTERDAY Channels on the old TV with a separate digibox.
However with my Sony TV with the inbuilt Freeview Box I cannot retrieve these channels.
I have followed the advice of disconnecting the vhs recorder and Virgin Box,resetting the TV, disconnecting the aerial retune and then retuning with aerial inserted on six occassions and still no success.
We have a new digital aerial with a power booster and had no problems until the 11th January retune.
Nextdoor neighbour has had no problems at all with his Sony TV and same aerial installed by same installer.
Please help.

David Spencer: Follow the instructions on the linked page, but pull the aerial out of the TV, not the box (as you don't have one).

Briantist:
Followed your recommendations; after retuning without the aerial in showing no channels located, inserted the aerial and retuned again, received Welsh Channels but still no Multiplex D channels.
Retuned again to obtain English Channels, but still no Multiplex D Channels.
I want to switch from Virgin.
Is there anything else I can do to get these?
Many thanks.

Hi,
When we moved into our house over 4 years ago there was already a sattelite dish attached. We assumed this was a Sky dish (we never subscrbed) and recently I bought a Feesat Humax receiver.
However the receiver did not detect any channels and I then removed the dish and set it up in the garden using a clothes line but still no channel detection. I have even bought a cheap sattelite finder and still nothing.
Could there be something wrong with the dish?
Thanks in advance?

Carlos: I would suspect that the dish is not aligned correctly, or that the LNB package has failed.

Following Brian's comments (Friday 14 January 2011 4:53PM) I emailed Arqiva with the following message:
"I am interested in hearing what steps you took to inform all users of the Mendip transmitter of the changes that took place on 11 Jan 2011.
I have found the following pdf on your website:
http://www.arqiva.com/cor….pdf
What was the distribution for this release?"
I got the following message back on Sunday 16 Jan:
"Dear Mr Morrow
We sent the press release to all local media in the West region, we placed display ads in three key regional papers, and sent a mailshot to a over 100 dealers and aerial installers. In addition Freeview ane Digital UK put information on their websites. I'm not sure what else we could have done.
In normal circumstances Arqiva has no remit to liaise with viewers but this case we felt obliged as neither DUK nor Freeview thought it their place to take the lead.
I hope this answers your question.
Kind regards
Bruce Randall

Arqiva"
This reinforces the impression that no-one saw it as their responsibility to keep the public informed. Very frustrating. (BA116PE)

Based on everyone's comments about recent retuning regaining the lost channels, I did one today (without unplugging anything) and jumped from 77 digital channels found to 102 channels. All of the channels are back PLUS Sky Sports 1 & 2.
Hurrah!
It does make you wonder if someone cocked up though.......... and it has been put right all of a sudden.
