Mendip transmitter - January 11th retune required
At the moment, viewers using the Mendip transmitter are unable to subscribe to Sky Sports 1 and 2 via BT Vision and/or Top Up TV - see BT Vision, TUTV, Sky Sports 1+2 and the Mendip transmitter - ukfree.tv.
To deal with this, on 11th January 2011, Multiplex D will change from being broadcast on C59+ in 16QAM mode, and switch to be the "normal" Arqiva B multiplex (10kW ERP) on C67 in 64QAM mode.
It will stay there until it moves to C52 on 28 September 2011. This date also sees Multiplex COM4/SDN move from C62+ to C48 and COM5/ARQA move from C56+ to C56.
In summary - if you use Mendip - even if you don't use Sky Sports, you must retune again on 11th January 2011.
When you retune - use a "first time installation" or do this - My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong
Note: This event is not part of the digital switchover process, and is not being managed by Digital UK, but by Arqiva and ITV.
If you have any questions, please call ITV on 0844 881 4150.

Regarding my 8:07pm post today, some additional information. I live in the BA11 postcode district and am well within the Mendip transmitter coverage area - in fact I can see the aerial from my window!
Regarding another comment, I am also surprised at how little publicity was given to this. My wife said there was a brief message on screen that she ignored. The only other way I found out was when I couldn't get some channels.

Brian, thanks, I have cleared the channels etc., at least 4 times today and comparing the tv with built in freeview which is ok with the one with the STB, this one has loads of channels missing, itv3, QVC, Gold, itv2+1, fiver, five usa, espn, Quest, sky sports 1, sky sports 2, Gems, Citv. I've checked the STB software is up to date. Wharfedale STB was new at last retune. At least we have all the main channels we use :o)

I also have lost a lot of channels - Film4 etc. Previous to this change I had no problecms whatsoever. PLease can the power levels on Ch 67 etc. be raised to something useful. I am furious about this change - who can I complain to officially.

Geoff: The next change is on 28 September 2011.
Sorry, there is no one to complain to "official" or otherwise. Multiplex COM6/ARQB belongs to Arqiva, they can do with it as they please in this respect.

Ann: If you can't get them now, you might have to wait until 28 September 2011.
