Channel One to close, Challenge to come to Freeview
Sky is closing one pay and one free channel from the portfolio it bought from Virgin TV, because they match channels already provided by Sky.
Bravo and Channel One (which was Virgin 1 and before that FTN) will close.
This means that the Channel One slot on Freeview will be replaced with the quiz show channel Challenge.
Challenge is now in the Freeview guide on 46. If you can't see it yet, please follow these instructions on your set-top box or Freeview TV: My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong - ukfree.tv.

After 25 years on air, Bravo has finally been shut down by BSkyB. Challenge Jackpot was disposed of some four hours before Bravo was turned off and Bravo2 was shut 2 hours after Bravo.
These are a lot of remaining changes Sky have to do:
Channel One (formerly Virgin 1) will be shut by the end of this month according to continuity announcers.
Challenge will move to Channel One's Freeview slot after C1's death.
Sky Atlantic will launch
Living and its sister channels adopt the Sky brand leaving Challenge as the Living TV Group's only channel

Well its almost checkmate for SKY. Ive just noticed that EurosportHD which used to be included on the SKYHD package has been removed unless I subscribe to SKY sports. Its good to know the package I signed up for has been altered if I want the same level of package I need to pay them more money. What is in store for the new year? Maybe SKY could remove all the shopping and religious channels from my package and give me the option whether I want to subscribe to these. Maybe they could charge me extra for viewing the movies currently on the BBC, ITV, C4, C5 etc. Its really unfair competition for SKY that I can currently watch them free. Think of something totally ridiculous that would never happen and by this time next year it probably will.

vicky: The current line is that no decision has been made.

J.Purkis: The law says that Sky can't charge you to watch the free-to-air public service channels.
That aside, Sky will do whatever maximizes their profits, that being the purpose of the company.

SkullKid: Not being free-to-air channels, we don't have to worry about them here.

Des Collier: I understand that ITV1+1 will start next Tuesday. The "ITV Preview" on multiplex A/COM4/SDN will become "ITV2+1" from that point.

I know what you mean Brian but they have sort of done it anyway with ITV2HD, ITV3HD, ITV4HD and CHANNEL5HD. I know it was a deal done between SKY ITV and CHANNEL5 and there was space issues as well on freeview/freesat but it restricts these channels to SKY subscribers and makes the other formats weaker.

I use a good quality aerial in the loft(not allowed a roof one)and this gives me a signal quality of 10 and signal strength of 10 with standard freeview pictures but when I tune into the few freeview hd channels the signal quality drops to 2.All the lights are lit on my Philex SLx DVB-T Signal Meter.I use the Caradon Hill Transmitter.
