What price for an aerial installation?
In responses to the guideline I posted about how much having a new aerial fitted should cost, Ian Grice posted: "£40-£50? Every aerial fitter I contacted wants at least £150+VAT considering you can get a class 3 aerial for under £10 and a class 2 for under £15 and cable is 40p a metre why are they charging so much for 30 minutes work?"
OK, for some places putting up a TV aerial is hard work, such as multi-story properties. As many people will simply be exchanging a Group A, B, C/D, E or K aerial for a wideband type, often without changing the supporting pole or cable, a high price cannot be justified.
I am concerned that some companies will exploit vulnerable groups (such as the elderly).
So, I what prices have you been quoted for aerial installations? What price have you paid for installation?
Do you know of any companies to avoid? Do you know of any companies that are good value for money?
Or do you work for a great aerial installation company?

Brianist doesn't pick the adverts; I assume that he has signed up to Google so they can display the adverts for which he will receive an income, maybe just to support this site.
However it is a shame that a site which appears to condone 'bad practices' allows advertising from one of the most talked about and for not all the best reasons, company in the business.
Hypercritical comes to mind.

I can ban adverts if I want, but I don't get to pick and choose - to be honest, I am unhappy about the action aerials advert because it contains a telephone number, which are not allowed in Google adverts.
UK Free TV takes up three web servers, if there were no adverts I couldn't cover the cost of providing the site out of my own funds.

Ian: Google provide a service for the provision of adverts, it is an open market provided though the Adwords system of theirs.
You don't get to "pick" the adverts that are shown, they are provided on a per-view basis though a bidding system. The adverts only provide income if someone clicks on them, not on a per-view basis and I have never said anywhere that I endorse the advertisers, because as I said before, I don't know who they are.
I'm not sure how it is "hypercritical" to show adverts this way, that seems very unfair to say so.

From AdWords - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia :
"Advertisers select the words that should trigger their ads and the maximum amount they will pay per click. When a user searches on Google, ads (also known as creatives by Google) for relevant words are shown as "sponsored links" on the right side of the screen, and sometimes above the main search results. Click-through rates (CTR) for the ads are about 8% for the first ad, 5% for the second one, and 2.5% for the third one. Search results can return from 0 to 12 ads.
The auction mechanism that determines the order of the ads is a generalized second-price auction. This is claimed to have the property that the participants do not necessarily fare best when they truthfully reveal any private information asked for by the auction mechanism (in this case, the value of the keyword to them, in the form of a "truthful" bid)."

Briantist if you can ban adverts a simpe question for you. If your mother or daughter or grandmother lived the other side of the country and said that there aerial had come down would you tell your loved one to go to action aerial or would you tell them not to touch them with a 10ft barge pole ?.

Briantist is doing a grand job hosting and answering questions on this site
He cannot be expected to pay for the funding in full for such a venture - he has to break even or even make a profit in my opinion - so like I said - deepest pockets wins and as Briantist says he does not condone action aerials
I don't know enough about websites to know how they generate an in come
But Mazbar Yes can fully understand your opinion about how they conduct business - im not a lover of them either

Mazbar: What an excellent example of both an "overemotional proposition" and a "false dichotomy" - you should be working for the Daily Mail.
I have, as people have objected, banned that company from placing their adverts here.
However, as I have never personally investigated them, I am not actually in a position to offer a personal opinion as all I have to go on is technically heresy.
The plural of "anecdote" is not "evidence".
