I had a long period of 'no signal' condition for Freeview Channels 20, 21 and others this evening, Sunday 5th June. My post Code is NN6 9SH and due to my house orientation and location I have my aerial pointing NNE.
I believe this means I receive the Waltham Transmitter as I get the ITV Central news, BBC East Midlands etc. I did not find any Waltham Txer Maintenance or Fault status, no indication if only some Freeview Channels off air.
I cannot find any information about who you notify about loss of service, whether it is the Engineering Company who looks after the Transmitter equipment (dedicated to the specific affected Channels) or the company providing the data link for the affected Channel programmes to the Transmitter.
The reliance upon a Statement 'these Channels / Transmitters are monitored' is a failure to understand how Systems Engineering and Monitoring is carried out. If no alarm indication is generated staff are unaware. If they are aware of an alarm they may not know its' impact unless they investigate. It is not a 'fault' until it is reported.
Whatever is the response to the alarm status it should include an immediate update of the status of the affected Channels / Transmitter. This is supposed to be a 7 day service with (I assume) 24hr coverage to provide immediate rectification / restoration of service.
Please can you enlighten me and others on the above points, especially the Contact details for reporting Channel loss.

Hi Keith i too have lost several HD channels, they are all broadcast on the 554.00Mhz frequency CH31, i receive my signal from the Waltham transmitter as do you.
I thought it might be my tv aerial at first but i receive most other HD channels with a maximum signal strength, so i think it is a transmitter fault.
The signal started to break up & then went all together, it came back a few times but now nothing at all.
I can't find any links as to where to report the fault.
I have tried a re-scan several times, but it only picked the strong channels & lost all the channels on 554.00 Mhz CH 31.
During one of the times i managed to receive a signal of sorts i re-tuned & got back the channels, but i lost them again when the signal went.
I will leave it for now & try again later today.

I'm based in Nottingham (Sherwood Rise area) and I'm currently obtaining no signal at all from Ch56 (754MHz) or Ch58 (770MHz). Intermittent signals from Ch31 (554MHz). And low signal quality on Ch26 (514MHz).

Switched on TV sets this morning receiving no signal on analogue ? Sky appears normal , signal had appears to change over recent week, normally received signal from Waltham, but been receiving signal from lines. Is there a problem at Waltham ?

Same problem here in Northampton this morning Monday 6th June 2016. No HD channels and intermittent signals on BBC and ITV Ch's 1,2,3,4,5 from the Sandy Heath transmitter.
Now just before 09:30 signals have returned.

Keith Burrell: intermittent complete loss of signal, here in Beverley, East Yorkshire. A quick glance at Facebook, and it seems everybody is experiencing simular problems - and yet the website, such as this one, continue to state that there have been 'no problems reported' - amazing, dissapointing, and obviously a failure of communications in more ways than one. Someone needs to be looking for a new job!

Keith Burrell / et al : The tropospheric ducting forecast maps (Ak William Hepburn) indicates that parts of the UK is presently being affected by high pressure, a condition which allows the reception of transmissions from distant stations, which if on the same frequency as that used by a local station will result in either same being wiped out, or alternatively causing erratic reception due to the alien signal corrupting the quality of the signal from the local station.
Unfortunately nothing can be done to alleviate this type of problem, and I may say, is one which I am sure is going to be a cause of complaint for many over this coming week, as the pressure zones are forecast to affect most areas in the UK at some point in time.

Mark Elvidge: Hi Mark. There are no issues with either the Belmont or Bilsdale West Moor main transmitters this morning that would require the attention of engineers, so it is unfair for any heads to be rolled! What is apparent, however, is that the UK has high atmospheric pressure conditions which can cause transmitters in the UK (or abroad) which use the same channels to interfere with one another. We call this, "co-channel interference" or "CCI". It has the effect of corrupting the quality of your received signal to the extent that you may experience picture freeze and loss of sound on your Freeview channels. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done to overcome the effects of high pressure; the viewer simply has to wait until lower pressure conditions prevail - which could be a matter of waiting several days. In the meantime, one could view television online instead of using Freeview, or one could invest in a 'Freesat' setup. You are, of course, entitled to contact programme providers, to inform them of your issues, but I anticipate you will get a similar response to mine. Loss of 554 Mhz CH 31 HD channels update.
I switched on again today and found the lost HD channels back on,
I had re-tuned my television last night to no avail and even lost the channels from the EPG listings.
Luckily i didn't do this on the dvd/blu-ray recorder, i just left it has it was, thats how i knew the channels were back on this morning.
I have just re re-tuned the television & all the missing channels are there with a stronger signal than before.
I see others have posted comments about "High pressure" weather conditions as why there were problems with the signal last night. However, i can only speak for myself in this, this morning when i switched on the television & dvd/blu-ray recorder and checked the signal strength in the settings i found the signal to show a higher reading than before the loss occurred. Maybe there was a problem with the Waltham transmitter after all, as well as the "High pressure" weather condition.
