Roy, The problem in Oswestry is widespread and has hit many people. I have retuned my TV and recorder and all seem at the moment to be in order. It seems that changes have been made to some multiplexed channels. For some while we have had grey boxes asking us to retune for new channels but no warning of these problems. As a pretty savvy silver surfer it's not too much of a problem for me but there are many very elderly folk presently staring at blank or pixellated screens.

Due to high pressure weather creating a condition called Sporadic E. This causes distant transmitters to interfere with local ones.

Reception signal problems this past week have been due to atmospheric conditions caused by a "High" and unusual weather conditions for time of year. Spoke to BBC Engineers who have confirmed this.

I seem to get less freeview channels than I used to. Signal strength is about 75%. Is there anything going on? Aerial looks fine.

Steve Lee: Unfortunately, you havn't supplied a postcode, but its a fair bet that an automatic retune or something similar has changed your transmitter from the main to a light transmitter, hence the fewer channels.

Your signal strength is perfect, btw.

Just lost c41, c44 and c47 multiplexes since last week. Has anything changed with this transmitter? I'm in sy5 really close to the Wrekin and normally get great reception. (52.6048,-2.6451)

Recently my freeview TV progamme guide is blank or has blank sections.. also the info can be an hour behind. I've found that chaging from 14 day to 8 day epg brings some or all of the programme listings back, I've done a reset on my box (Thomson) and a retune which brings everything back...but again today (16/11/13) it was blank again! I've read that the 4G roll out might cuase interference to freeview..but this is detailed as only on freq channels 59 and 60 (juts below & around 800MHz)...the Wrekin transmitter does not go as high as this..but could 4G still be causing my problem?

Stoke-on-trent

My daughter is living in Stoke on Trent and cannot access the Trentham TX because the hill so has to use The Wrekin TX. All muxes work apart from COM4 & COM5. The aerial is a log periodic and is in the loft. Other than installing an outdoor aerial, is there a way to improve things?

Betamax_man: Looking at satellite and Streetview photographs of the area it seems clear that reception from The Wrekin along the road your daughter lives on could be difficult due to the hospital building and the many trees in the area.
