Garymma : If you have never been able to the channels, please post the make and model of your TV. If you have had the HD channels in the past, try manually tuning in UHF channel 42 in DVB-T2 mode.

Nairn
I live at Firhall, Nairn IV12 5RP where we have a communal aerial using the Rosemarkie transmitter. Reception this past week has been troublesome, mainly on BBC channels but on two occasions all channels have expired. At present 16.25 Sat 16th November. All non-BBC is fine, but no reception of BBCs. Various sites say all is well at Roemarkie....perhaps there's a knock-on effect from Darvel work? Could our local reception system be selectively naff?

Brian: As you are on a communal aerial system it is always worth enquiring with neighbours to see if they have the same issue, as if they do then the problem lies within the system and as such it should be reported to the party responsible for its upkeep. When you speak to others ensure that they are using terrestrial (Freeview) and not a satellite platform like Sky or Freesat.

M MacRae: Do you mean that the signal is just breaking up, or the signal strength is very low? A postcode would give us your local transmitter, so we could check to see if there has been engineering work, etc. However, if your getting interference, check that its not from a local source, such as a faulty thermostat, etc. And remember that your aerial system might be at fault - perhaps a loose connection is causing the problem.

It's happened again. This time I pulled out the mains ariel and went to plug in a very strong indorr ariel, but when I pulled the ariel out the picture and sound stayed the same. I then plugged in the psare indoor ariel and it didnt change at all. Am pretty sure its the trasnmitter or I would have had a variation when I pulled the mains ariel out...and then when I plugged the indoor one in. It is the picture and sound that is breaking up. the picture has lines in it and the sound breaks up. It was fine until 8.30ish tonight. No one changed anything or turned anything on in the house.

J Macfie: The Glen Urquhart transmitter (SD and HD) is listed as being off air from 13.18 today, no reason given, although judging by what you have said it might be due to a power supply failure.
