r jeynes: No problems are reported, but you should probably expect this with an indoor aerial. Freeview requires a rooftop aerial for reliable reception. Please can you see Freeview reception has changed? | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice ?

chunkylover57: The channels you do not get are the Commercial ones and the broadcasters have decided not to bother with the Porth transmitter and over 1,000 similar small "filler-in" relays nationwide. They operate on a profit driven basis and cover 90% of the population from 81 of the largest transmitter sites (largest by viewer population). To transmit from the 1,000 plus relays would roughly double their cost of transmission whilst only adding 8.5% of the population to their potential viewer base.

It's a disgrace that they will not provide us with full freeview chanels.
We pay the same as those who have them all.
Not nice.

Jade: If you are referring to the Rhondda transmitters being for PSB only purposes then the programmes you are missing are not in any way connected with the licence fee, as they are purely commercial enterprises that only operate on the basis of profit expected, this in the same way as a National supermarket chain will not open a store anywhere that is not expected to return a high enough level of profit.

paula Deverill:
It might work in some parts of Tonypandy. Look at the map near the top of this page and zoom in, but not so far that the green area disappears, and find your location. If it is in the green area then it may work. If you are in either the yellow area or not coloured then it will not work at all.
Set top aerials are usually cheap, but not very good at getting signals. They are also afected by people moving around the room, even next door!
