I bought a new tv ready for the digital switch over. The switch over came and that was the start of 7 or 8 years of problems. The picture freezers, pixelates, and the sound goes off and even deletes the radio channels. This happens every day and night for hours at a time nomatter what the weather.

Verious tv technicians have been out and all say the transmission is strong. I've had a filter put on the tv, another filter put on the outside aerial and a new aerial lead but nothing has worked.

I live in a middle flat on the back of the property and the tenant below me has the same problem, the tenant above me is fine. The tenant in the middle flat on the front of the property has the same problems but the ones above and below him don't. All I know is after all these years of not being able to watch a programme all the way through is annoying and frustrating but I still have to pay for a tv licence. I always check that the conections and leads are ok.

My post code is Jesmond NE2 4RL

Hope you can advise
Miss Barbara Hudson

Barbara Hudson: The fact that one of your neighbours in the same building suffers the same problem is a clear indication that there is a fault somewhere in the communal aerial system. This has nothing to do with your TV licence, you need to take it up with whoever is responsible for building maintenance.

How come I can now select either Newcastle or Middlesbrough when I retune?

Karl Thomas: Probably because you're picking up signals from two different transmitters in different regions. If you provide a full postcode we can take a look at your predicted coverage and see what you should be able to get.

Looking at your colour coded map for the Pontop Pike transmitter shows little or no DTT signal at postcode NE41 8JG in Wylam, Newcastle, where I am planning aerial changes for the development where I live in advance of the 700MHz clearance channel changes planned for later this year. This completely conflicts with the prediction on the UK Digital website www.digitaluk.co.uk/coveragechecker/main/trade/ne41+8jg/NA/0/NA
for the same post code that suggests I should be able to get a good signal from Pontop Pike. Is the data your map accesses current and if so any thoughts on the different prediction.

Vic Savy: This website is independent and the owner doesn't seem to have time available to sort out various problems with the coverage predictions. Digital UK's coverage checker should be fairly reliable as they are the organisation that run Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT) in the UK.

Jon Douglas: According to Digital UK, Pontop Pike has frequency changes on 12th September (PSB1 moving) and 13th November for the rest. The local mux moves to UHF channel 33 on 13th November.

We have had no coverage from any of the BBC channels including TV and radio since 12 September and still have none today & counting. We have no problems with Freeview. Has anyone any idea when transmission might be resumed. The aerial is in the loft but a neighbour whose aerial is on the roof has had no coverage either.
