phil walpole: It's either Moel-y-Parc or Winter Hill at your location. If neither are possible then the only way to receive extra HD services is via satellite (e.g. free-to-air Freesat).
If you reside in the block of flats then your hands may be tied by what the landlord wishes to do, not to mention the question of whether the nearby tall buildings might be in the way, which I suspect they may be.
Terrain plot to Winter Hill (click the link below to view a map with a line between the two points):
Terrain between ( m a.g.l.) and (antenna m a.g.l.) - Optimising UK DTT Freeview and Radio aerial location
The terrain up to about a mile out and objects on it might be in the way. For one, the hospital would appear to be in the way for all properties on Trowbridge Street.
If you're in one of the houses then you may well have free reign on your aerial but no doubt you're even more restricted due to less height.

The signal from the Welsh transmitter is some times available during good weather but as you say buildings do play their part, getting in the way.
The Stourton transmatter is designed to serve Liverpool, which it does very well
But i suppose we are in the minority and you cant expect the people in digital uk to do their job properly.
Thanks for your reply.
Let's hope the people concerned can scrape a few pence together to upgrade storeton.
Cheers Phil Walpole

Phil Walpole: Storeton and Moel-y-Parc are only 15 degrees apart from your location, so if you have a good reception of one then you might get good of the other. If you are referring to reception of Moel-y-Parc with your Storeton aerial then this is of course at opposite polarity, so perhaps if you had a horizontally mounted aerial in the direction of MyP you might get stable reception, including COM7 and COM8. You would, of course, have to use Storeton for regional programming.

It looks like anything on the ground within a quarter of a mile of you might cause difficulty, but other than that, at 19 miles you have clear line-of-sight.

Hi. Just to say that Freeview channel 103 on Moel-y-Parc has been broadcasting ITV Wales, NOT ITV Central West, for at least two years now.
