Following 27th March my Sony pvr keeps losing all the channels, my Panasonic pvr keeps losing C49 (the new BBC site). The TV, however is fine... I keep re-tuning, the same thing keeps happening. Wretched Digital TV! Used to have a super reliable Analogue picture here in Yetminster.

@chloe, I live in Taunton and the retune went without a hitch, I have all the BBC channels, including radio, which eliminates the transmitter end. This suggests it is either a settings problem with your equipment or a frequency effect due possibly to some geographical feature such as building reflections.

I am not getting any signal on BBC channels right now. I have re-tuned three times. It worked okay last night. All other channels are fine with a good signal.

Just fixed my mother's TV issue and reading through the above issues I thought I'd share the solution as there may be a lot of other people with the same issue.

Problem was that after the recent change in transmitter configuration my mother's Philips TV (26PFL5522D/05) had lost all the BBC channels (BBCA multiplex). Easy I thought. I'll just retune it. This worked but each time the set was power cycled they were lost again.

In the end I worked out that I needed to do a factory reset. The methods using the menu button on the set did not work. I rang Philips on 08443380488 and spoke to a very helpful gentleman. He told me about the menu buttom method (whilst watching TV press and hold the menu button on the side of the TV for around 20-30 seconds). Initial menu will be shown allowing full re-tune of TV. This did not work so I asked if there was any other way of getting to the menu. He said that you can press 123654 123654 on the remote. This worked and all was well.

Interesting thing was that the support engineer was convinced that even doing this would not fix the issue - so good thing I tried it anyway.

we have for the last 2 or 3 weeks been having problems, have retuned numerous times to have a different outcome on every occasion, our signal was fine before.
Have done the unplugging and clearing .
Can seem to get HD sometimes with no normal channels. Burnham on sea

Rob Wilkins: Pleased to read of your success with regards to sorting out the reception problem on your mothers TV, but when say that the initial advice given by the Philips rep of carrying out a full retune did not work are you referring to "reinstall all services" via the installation / service set up menu?

phil: If every time you carry out a rescan the outcome is different then thats inclined to indicate that you might be intermittently picking up channels from another station, however its not possible for anyone to be able to assist without having knowledge of your post code or at least one from nearby such as a post office etc, as only then can details of the transmitter covering your area be accessed as there are two Burnham's.

We are yet another load of Tauntonites with no BBC channels, and progressively losing others as well. Tempers are a lot more than frayed here, I can tell you. We are in the stratosphere about it. This is a public holiday and 27 March was an asinine date on which to do the change when we all know that there is this problem on every one of the many occasions on which we are told to re-tune. Now, above the box that I am writing in there is a statement to the effect that if a I am disrespectful or rude I will be counted out. OK, so, since I now feel very much that way about the transmitter, how is it justifiable that this is one-sided? Eh?

The practical problem is that I can find NO WAY of contacting the people who do the transmitting at Mendip. I can imagine just why this is, of course. But I have now contacted OFCOM and I will be filling up their form every ten minutes until I get action. And then I shall be doing what I can to get back a proportion of my licence fee.

I'm in Chippenham, I have this kind of problem every time they do this kind of work. I think it has something to do with some new flats that have been built. didn't have any problems until then. Anyone realy desperate may want to think about FREESAT. Satelite seems to work pretty much anywhere in Europe, maybe even further afield who knows?(and they don't have TV licences to watch what us mugs pay for).
