The symbol shows the location of the Mendip (Somerset, England) transmitter which serves 720,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Mendip (Somerset, England) mast?

David: Unfortunately the manual that I have for the TH-42PX60U is for the European "E" version and not "U", which I believe to be very similar in most respects and which does have a manual tuning facility, this accessed by pressing "menu", then in the three choices seen in the "main menu" box select "setup menu", then scroll down the set up menu to "tuning" and click "access", manual tuning seen 3rd down the list, if available on the "U" model that is.

However, if you do not see what's been described mentioned in the menu then I suggest that if at all possible the best policy is to borrow another TV and try what Dave Lindsay has suggested as it should have worked, as although you may not have had any success when you tried this with the Panasonic it could be simply due to the type of tuner used in the set, and its not necessarily the case that the procedure would not work on another brand with a tuner not quite so prone to being desensitised by the presence of high powered signals on its input.

If though any other TV you might manage to borrow doesn't work either, then I cant see much chance of success except by the inclusion of a group C/D aerial filter in line with the TV's aerial socket, as this will attenuate the lower 23-29 range channels used by Frome to a level that might allow the TV's tuner to pick up Mendips channels from Ch48 upwards, the upper range changing on March 28th as well as in 2013, but with Ch48 always being the lowest channel used.

By the way should you manage to borrow a TV and it had a manual tuning facility then have a try at manually tuning it, Mendips muxes being: 61 - 54 - 58(HD) - 48 - 67 - 52.

Another final point being that its assumed that your aerial is horizontally mounted and with a 272 degree heading towards Mendip?

I have heard there are some more freeview channel changes coming up on Mendip either at the end of March or in April. Next year there are yet more changes to come with the high powered BBC Mux having to move away from ch61 to make way for the new 4G mobile phone network.

Richard: Simply because Mendips ArqA mux is changing its operating channel from 67 to 56 as well as powering up from 12.5Kw to 100Kw.

which means then that everyone who gets their signal from Mendip should then get the whole freeview complement without any break-up in picture quality

Hi

I think - The main entry for the MUX above is correct but the After 7th April is wrong for ARQA and ARQB.

Cheers.

WED 28 MARCH - MENDIP - All MUX's moved to published/DSO Channels, EXCEPT ArqA which is still on C67 [and C52, where it should have moved to is unused/zero power]. Can you please advise if/when ArqA will move.
