The symbol shows the location of the Mendip (Somerset, England) transmitter which serves 720,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Mendip (Somerset, England) mast?

Some Mendip data appears to be out-of-date and hence confusing. Could somebody double-check and tabulate what is definitely to happen 28 Sep and therafter, eg dates x-axis, muxes y-axis, channels in boxes. Many thanks!

Thanks for all the info - I have some PC
cards to retune and it is so much quicker if you have the numbers and do it manually. This
is my take on how it's going to be.

CH48 =690000 ITV3, Five*,Five USA etc
CH52 =722000 Film4,Yesterday,ITV4 etc
CH54 =738000 ITV1,CH4,Five etc
CH58 =770000 BBC HD,BBC1 HD,ITV1 HD,CH4 HD
Ch61 =794000 BBC1-4, News 24 etc
CH67 =842000 Dave,Pick,Really etc

************

CH56 =754000 Gone for good
CH57= 762000 Gone for good
CH62 =802000 Gone for good

Local CH51 =714000 (Local, when and if)

Retune Again March 28th 2012, CHs stay the same, but modes are changing.

Have I got this right now?

thanks for checking Andy, and spotting my mistakes. This is the amended version.

CH48 =690000 ITV3, Five*,Five USA etc
CH52 =722000 Film4,Yesterday,ITV4 etc
CH54 =738000 ITV1,CH4,Five etc
CH58 =770000 BBC HD,BBC1 HD,ITV1 HD,CH4 HD
Ch61 =794000 BBC1-4, News 24 etc
CH67 =842000 Dave,Pick,Really etc

************

Local CH51 =714000 (Local, when and if)

Retune Again March 28th 2012, CH 67 moves to CH56 (754000)plus mode changes.

- I want to make sure this is exactly right so I can put numbers into an XML which scans my PC cards up in jiffy.

Still not sure... Ofcom and DUK seem to have conflicting projections, maybe because not synchronising updates? Does 67 move to 52 or 56? Do Arqiva A and B swap? Where will 61 move to when 800MHz clearance proceeds? It was earlier suggested that general changes would be 62>50, 61>49, 50>40, 49>39. Outdated now? Viewers with manual retune or "intelligent" automatic retune will probably manage. I wonder if there will be an increase in postings on this page...

The forthcoming Mendip retune (28 Sept 2011) places one Mux on channel 48. In our location (North Wiltshire) it's quite common for customers to experience reception and tuning problems due to the arrival of unwanted signals from Wenvoe. I see there's a Wenvoe Mux on channel 49 - for us that's the first time an 'outside' channel has become interleaved with our Mendip ones. So in problem areas, manual tuning will be a must and rf filtering will not be of use to avoid unwanted problems when the customer retunes themselves. Have I got this right?

Well what made me question it Brian was that pick TV+1 has gone, and insted it is advising us to retune to be able to pick up Challenge on 46. My Freeview box shows what channel the multiplex is on and indeed Challenge has moved onto the same one. Because didn't used to be on ARQB Channel 67? Now its on Multiplex C Channel 56.

Thanks Brian!
