The symbol shows the location of the Mendip (Somerset, England) transmitter which serves 720,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

A lot of main transmitters have been having extensive Planned Engineering in recent times. It's over 10 years since DSO and no doubt to ensure that the transmitters and masts continue to give reliable service for another decade such work is needed. In addition to which the Mendip mast is a similar construction to the Bilsdale mast that was destroyed by fire in August 2021, so I'd expect some of the work would be to try and ensure that fate didn't happen at Mendip.
Most of the service area is receiving normal signals, you may be in a weaker reception area BUT as you haven't given a full postcode, we can't check that or check if you might be vulnerable to mobile mast interference.
It is worth emphasising, as already mentioned by StevensOnln1, assuming you were correctly tuned, anyone should NOT retune if you have no signal or bad pixellation, whether it's due to a fault, weather conditions or engineering. You cannot tune to signals that are not there or can't be decoded.
I assume that you have checked that your aerial still looks intact and is still pointing correctly after recent severe weather, and that the downlead isn't flapping in the wind,
If you've lost your correct tuning, your best option is to clear memory of any incorrect tuning - by unplugging the aerial and doing a full automatic retune which should clear memory as no signals should be found.
Then plug the aerial back in and do a MANUAL retune for UHF channels 30, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36 and 48.
You may not receive C30, the Local multiplex, as it's beamed towards Bristol and you may not be in that reception area.

I live in TA12 6DS Martock Somerset area for the past few days I have been having problems with the sound level going up and down just enough to notice it rather than a total loss of sound on BBC1 using aerial reception (no problems with digital via sky).
My daughter who lives in Yeovil BA21 3TL was telling me she had the same problem yesterday evening

Jim, there are no faults currently reported for Mendip, although the transmitter has been listed for Planned Engineering, it is no longer listed. It would however be unusual for work to cause problems like that on a Saturday or Sunday evening at peak times.
Weather conditions the last couple of days may have resulted in brief periods of interference, but that should now have subsided.
Both your locations are capable of picking up to 4 main transmitters, so do check in your TV Tuning sections that you are correct;y tuned to Mendip's UHF channels as listed at the very top page on this site.
If you find problems continuing and have checked tuning, check that your aerials look intact and are still pointing correctly, and please post back.

Hi
Any one suffering the same...........
We have a Humax set top box; until a few weeks ago it was possible, using the EPG, to see all the upcoming programmes on most channels for a full week. Now we are lucky if we see the programmes on any channel for one day!
With the most recent changes to Freeview, I thought that this could be the source of the no-show'!
I did a re-install this morning but the problem is still present.
The Humax box is relatively old, could it be that this piece of kit is passed its sell-by' date.
Any suggestions? My location is BA21 4NW.
Regards
Bruce

Bruce:
I've a feeling this is related to some recent bugs in the EPG due to some changes in some channels on the Local multiplex and as usual Humax and Sony boxes seem to be affected.
Just bear with it, I'll post back if I can get any update.

Bruce: I had a look around and found this:
https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/humax-epgs-not-displaying-properly
The thread seems to be about what you are experiencing, and presents a solution of deleting services that are not required, thus reducing the amount of EPG data that needs to be stored.

Well done and thanks for that, I wonder if Bruce has tried it?
I found something similar but it was years old so I didn't consider it, I didn't see that recent one!

Graham Preston:
You should normally have excellent reception of the 6 main multiplexes from Mendip.
As per the post before yours, Mendip is listed for Planned Engineering (again!), therefore there could be brief interruptions to transmission etc.
If you were correctly tuned, then if there was No Signal due to weather, engineering, faults etc. OR badly pixelated pictures Do NOT Retune. You cannot tune to signals that aren't there or cannot be decoded. The usual result is to clear your correct tuning so you then have to retune again when signals are normal.
Mendip was transmitting normally at various times when I checked in the morning and this evening.
If you are still having a problem please post back with some further details.
Where is your aerial located? How old is it (roughly)?
Do you have any amp/splitters feeding more than one TV and where is it located? Are there any tall trees etc on the line of sight between the aerial and the transmitter?
