Paul Gilbert : I suggest you read the previous comments to avoid everyone repeating themselves.
Chris Burmajster: I think the only time you will see more channels on a relay transmitter is when they are all switched to DVB-T2, allowing higher bitrates and thus more SD/HD channels. However that would require everyone to have a Freeview HD receiver, so to drive the uptake these, new HD channels are being launched.

Alan: You might be able to pick up the PSB channels (BBC/ITV/C4/C5 etc) but probably not a lot more.

Alan:
Looking at the predicted coverage maps (using Route /extras/404/prediction) failed, sorry. for both Crystal Palace and Hannington, your location is shown as not being covered by either transmitter. So it is highly unlikely that you will get anything useful with an indoor aerial. You will need at least an external aerial on the roof/chimney stack but you should consult a local aerial contractor who has good knowledge of signal reception in that area.
Alternatively, consider having a dish installed and buying a Freesat Set Top Box.
