Lee: It is highly likely that those near to relays will have their aerials directed at its parent.

Is this poor planning? Should relays not use neighbouring channels to that of their parent?

I guess you can't even fit a filter because there is not empty channel between the one you want and the one you don't want.

The only suggestion is if you can mount the aerial such that your building acts as a (sufficient) screen for the Lowestoft but still permits receipt of Tacolneston's signals.

i have tried a variable attenuator. and removing preamp. aerial is pointing at tacolneston but local relay frequencies drowning out tacolnestons signal to my tvs. shame they were put so close. i only pick up bbc and itv via local relay now and it drops out yet its only across the road.i am too close. . thinking of combining the existing rooftop and installing a loft vertical to across the road hehehe

lee: At least it is the PSBs are that are drowned out. If it were the COMs then you would probably have to go with Freesat.

lee: It's not "poor planning", digital services can use frequencies that are next to each other!

True Dave, and Brian I have read this a lot elsewhere, but i dont actually beleive this is true, on the basis of what I am experiencing and the tests I and others have carried out.

I am going to combine my rooftop and position a vertical towards the local relay, "solved"

hello,
I haven't used the TV since Nov last year when the digital boxes were working ok, I tried it this weekend and the signal was very poor, I tried re tuning the boxes, 1 technika, 1 phillips, and the reception was better but would freeze the picture every 5 sec, the aerial is loft mounted, i think pointing toward Norwich the elements of the aerial are horizontal, should they be vertical? im not sure what type of aerial it is is there anyway of identifing, colour coded etc? the aerial feeds a 'loft box' with 2 of the 4 outputs used

pete: I think that your best bet will be Tacolneston. It carries all the commercial channels as well and (having looked on Streetview) all your neighbours' aerials are on it. It is at 282 degrees.

You are right that for reception of the Lowestoft relay (which is on the top of Lowestoft College), the aerial should be vertical. For Tacolneston it should be horizontal.

It's probably best to confirm that it is tuned correctly. This information is usually given on the signal strength screen. For Tacolneston:

BBC One = C55
ITV1 = C59
HD = C62
ITV3 = C42
Pick TV = C45
Yesterday = C50

I have suddenly lost or had a dramatic decrease in my reception the last 2 days.
Yesterday several channels where black screen and others pixels most of the time from around 4-30pm for at least an hour before i gave up and i turned the tv off because of it,
For the second day when i turned on the tv just after 4pm had little or no signal. after reset i cannot install any channels now and it is now.
