I bought a television with in-built freeview, but cannot get any signal at all. I also do not have good signal for analogue channels. This is very frustrating. Is there anything I can do to watch television? Would an indoor aerial be effective.
My postcode is NR33 0QQ

marie: The Digital UK postcode checker shows that you can expect very little by way of Freeview reception at your location. A good outdoor aerial might just about deliver a signal on Mux1 and MuxC from Tacolneston. After switchover reception is still not very good. Tacolneston offers poor reception on all six muxes, and a new transmitter at Lowestoft, which enters service at switchover offering the 3 PSB muxes only (Freeview Lite), deteriorates to variable reception in 2012. You might find satellite reception to be the most reliable option for tv viewing.

Hi Marie, I am also in Lowestoft, I can see from your postcode depending on what part of the road you live but if near the bridge, reception will be poor. although in November the Tacolneston Transmitter that serves us at the moment, the power will be increased, so it may improve your reception.
Or at worse the new Lowestoft Relay which also comes on in November will only output some channels and not all, with 400Watts output will easily cover you. I live near the college, so I will get it on a wet piece of string! but doubt ill use it as I have Sky and Freesat and freeview from Tacolneston
Good Luck

i now have reception issues since this lowestoft relay has gone live!! i have now lost UHF CH59 from Tacolneston as the Lowestoft Relay uses CH60, i now get my ITV etc from Lowestoft and it drops out!! im too close to the lowestoft relay!! looks like an attenuator needs to go inline, serves me right for having a masthead preamp and booster in the loft!
Now if i take aerial out, and use a piece of wire, Volia! i can get ITV CH5 from Lowestoft without dropout!

Lee: I see that the new Lowestoft relay effectively replaced a self-help one on the same site:

Presumably the college blocks sight of Tacolneston for those living behind it.

Lee: It is highly likely that those near to relays will have their aerials directed at its parent.
Is this poor planning? Should relays not use neighbouring channels to that of their parent?
I guess you can't even fit a filter because there is not empty channel between the one you want and the one you don't want.
The only suggestion is if you can mount the aerial such that your building acts as a (sufficient) screen for the Lowestoft but still permits receipt of Tacolneston's signals.
