Transmitter engineering: I have lost the HD channels. I have reset and retuned several times to no avail. Has the Lark Stoke transmitter stopped transmitting BBC and other HD channels?

Patrick Ring:

No, the transmitter hasn't stopped transmitting the HD channels. Its a PSB service, no transmitter will stop broadcasting them.

The transmitter was listed for Planned Engineering and although not on the current list, we know that it's not always 100% accurate and work may have over -run. The work means there may be interruptions to transmission, although usually short.
There are currently no listed faults for Lark Stoke.

I'm afraid retuning when you had no signal is never recommended if you were correctly tuned.
You cannot tune to signals that aren't there or can't be decoded, the usual outcome is it clears your correct tuning!
The HD multiplex is on UHF C30 at Lark Stoke, try a MANUAL tune of C30.

If you provide a full postcode we chancheck your predicted reception and whether Lark Stoke is your best choice of transmitter and if there's the possibility of interference from Mobile masts.

Hi ;
can anyone here comment if the following changes in the programmes broadcast from Lark Stoke (at least **) occurred between 13:00 and 14:00 on 17th July ?? Note that most of the "changes" are only a channel name change (prefixing with U&) , that I can see has occurred all over the network ; only the Seen on TV channel change can be seen as a "change in programme" . N/A means no programme was / is shown for that LCN in the EPG (or published TV programme listings / schedule) :

Ridge Hill + Lark Stoke changes : occurring between TBC 13:00 & 14:00 17th July

LCN Pre Post
19 Dave U&Dave
20 Drama U&Drama
25 W U&W
27 Yesterday+1 U&Yesterday
57 DaveJaVue U&DaveJaVue
60 Drama+1 U&Drame+1
74 Yesterday+1 U&Yesterday+1
75 That's 60's That's 80's
79 N/A Seen on TV
94 Seen on TV N/A

thanks &
regards,
Charlie

PS: at least ** means I have a pretty precise idea of when this change occurred for Lark Stoke ; I know it has also occurred for Ridge Hill, but not the precise time

Charlie S:

Freeview updates usually take place on a Wednesday, normally once a month and have done for some time. They are often changes initiated by the smaller Commercial Broadcasters which can be rebranding, channels withdrawn or launched. Some channel moves are to "tidy-up" the EPG listing as per the EPG rules. and are usually imitated by Freeview.
The actually time can vary but it is often around the time you have noted.

Seen On TV has gone into Administration. No doubt the channel change had been planned before this had happened, and in any event the Auditors will decide what will happen to the asset.

The UKTVPlay changes were planned some months ago. If you were signed up for the UKTVPlay App on Freeview Play, you would have had some emails detailing the changes. They have "rebranded" themselves as "U" and advised that "U&" would be added to the channel names. The App is now just called "U" rather than UKTVPlay.

Other changes you may not have noted are Radio stations on LCNs711-717. The Commercial stations that used to broadcast in those slots withdrew from Freeview a short while ago. BBC Local Radio stations have been moved up the EPG to occupy those slots.
