keron: Tru TV has moved to the local multiplex, so if you can receive a local TV station on channel 8 then retune and Tru TV should reappear in your channel list.

Hector:
KH is fine here on the south side of the water. Check your aerial and coax and connectors for damage. Our recent high winds and rain might have moved or damaged your installation. My chimney log came down last week, but I was able to re-fix it temporarily with a ratchet strap - and will do a proper job when the weather is friendlier!

Kilvey does not transmit many HD channels.
Your notes suggest it needs Com7 and Com8
Are there any plans to provide these.?

As HD TV is now a mature service, would have expected more HD channels by now, especially as most people have moved to HD capable TVs

Rick: COM7 and COM8 are temporary services which are broadcast from 30 main transmitters which cover around 70% of UK households and are expected to close some time between Summer 2020 and 2022. There have never been any plans for coverage to be expanded to any further transmitters.

Like Rick, I too have been disappointed about the lack of HD channels broadcasting from Kilvey Hill and have attempted for years to learn what organisation is responsible for deciding whether Kilvey will broadcast COM7 and COM8 to write to them to enquire, however, I have never been able to find out. Does anyone know? Having just read your reply StevensOnln1 if all COM7 and 8 are closing in a few years what will happen to HD channels?

John B: COM7 & COM8 are commercial multiplexes operated by Arqiva, using spare transmitter equipment that was taken out of service at the time of the digital switchover. This allows it to operate at a low cost (very little new equipment needed) and allowed additional Freeview capacity to be made available to broadcasters at a significantly lower cost than capacity on the existing (and nearly full) COM4/5/6 multiplexes. Adding additional transmitters such as Kilvey Hill would require additional equipment (therefore more cost) and would only add a small percentage of households to the coverage area - COM7/8 would have to be added to more than double the number of transmitters to reach the same level of coverage as COM4/5/6 (80 transmitter to reach 90% of UK households) which would push the cost up significantly and probably wouldn't have attracted some of the smaller channels such as FreeSports, PBS America, Forces TV etc to join Freeview. None of the broadcasters have announced what will happen to their channels on COM7/8 when these temporary multiplexes close.

Jo:

Please provide a full post code so that we can check your expected reception conditions at your location. We may then be able to suggest why you are not able to view True Entertainment.

Jo: True Entertainment is not broadcast from any transmitters in Wales. Depending on where you are (please provide a full postcode) you may be able to receive it from a transmitter in England.
