All going well so far, but one question. After 14th March will I be able to get HD as the Haslemere transmitter shows BBCB multiplex? Is so I might buy a Humax box.

Haslemere
Hi, we've just retuned and I'm totally underwhelmed by the channel selection. No ITV 3 or 4, no Dave, no Yesterday, no commercial radio, etc. I note that because Haslemere is a re-transmitter, we're one of the 1 in 10 households that get very limited choice. After waiting 4 long years since leaving London and losing all my digital channels, I must admit to being hugely disappointed. Can I re-position my aerial to receive signal directly from Midhurst (and presumably pick up more channels) or will I have to go down the satellite route? Thanks

ATOMS: The Commercial broadcasters do not wish to spend money on transmitting from some 1000 or so small relay sites such as Haslemere.
Digital UK Tradeview doesn't rate Midhurst at your location at all, not even "poor". I think that the fact that there is a hill in that direction means that you're not going to get it.
The next best transmitter, which is shown as "good" is Crystal Palace, but unfortunately the Commercial (COM) channels (which Haslemere doesn't transmit) are co-channel.
The only other suggested possibility is Hannington, but its COMs are shown as "poor" and their transmission power is half of its power for the Public Service channels (which are "variable").

hi im from haslemere and think its wrong that the commercial broadcasters wont pay out for an upgrade to our small relay sites. we all pay our tv licences and should be able to have all the freeview channels. we are missing out on so many good channels. we dont even get a music channel

ATOMS: It seems Haslemere transmitter has been down for engineering works since early afternoon. Anyone have any ideas as to how long this will be?
Thanks

So far I ain't seeing the benefit of digital tv. The output to my telly is in the wrong format, my kids can't drag themselves away from the rubbish channels (and before you suggest it, would hate me dor deleting them from the telly) and now the transmitter is offline for maintenance. Coincidentally along with my Vodafone signal. Can we have analogue back? Just 4 channels?
