I have previously got BBC news he, aljazeera had, BBC 4 hd, thought signal quality is often poor. Re BBC news, channel number has always been 107. Today there was message on TV that new channels had been found, so these were retuned as on previous occasions. Now, when I try to get channel 106 or 107, it says "invalid channel." I can still get BBC news on channel 130, but this, of course, isn't HD. Can you help, please.

Eric Turner.: Well your reception of the COM7 HD multiplex which carries BBC News HD and others is obviously marginal. Maybe you would benefit from a replacement aerial or amplifier.
In an effort to restore COM7, try a manual tune of UHF channel 32.

Eric Turner.:
A lot of people are having problems with channel 32 from Hannington, including myself, it has started in the last month, and seems to be affecting Humax users in particular, check out the MyHumax user forum.

We are moving to Spencers Wood. Which aerial do I need. Is the SLX Compact 3in1 Omni Directional Aerial a good option. Would like to install in the loft area.

Paul: Although aerials of the type mentioned may seem appealing as far as ease of installation is concerned, especially where loft installations are involved, but though they are really a take off from a standard omni directional caravan aerial, insomuch the receiving element is not much more than a loop of wire being fed into a high amplifier.
A problem with these type of aerials when "not" used in a caravan site environment, is that they are prone to picking up interference from all around, sources of interference being somewhat limited by the very nature of caravan sites.
Therefore, although some users of these aerials do give give them the thumbs up, I would recommend using a Log periodic type aerial in your loft, one known as a Log36 being ideal, link for provided below.

By the way, indications are that your area can receive Freeview from either the Hannington transmitter (13 miles) or Crystal Palace (40 miles), although the majority of aerials seen in the area of Spencer's Wood Post Office (used as a test p/code) are seen to be facing towards the latter.

Alan House: You will have to carry out a retune on your TV or box to update the programme guide, as Sky news on Freeview recently changed from 82 up to 132.

COM8 seems to be the same strength as COM7.
(Checked with a spectrum analyser so they really are definitely very nearly the same power).
The same for Crystal Palace.
Have the planned transmitter powers for COM8 been changed to bring them in line with COM7?

Since the weekend I have lost audio on BBC New Channel HD (SD is fine)and Aljazera HD and maybe others in that set on the Hannington Transmitter. (RG1 2NU) Anyone else have the same trouble? I suspect there is a carrier as my tv reports 'Dual Mono' when tuning to these channels. (I suspect it is a settings problem. Shouldn't they be stereo?)
