This P.M.,when our Digital TV was turned on the picture started breaking up on all channels followed by'No programme available' on bottom of the screen.Weather was windy and raining.
We have had this problem several times recently in similar weather so we bought an indoor aerial and tried it this P.M.but only got the channel name and number at top of the screen and 'No programme available'at bottom.
Any suggested cure,please?

A. Robertson: Well although you have posted your query under the very low powered Garelochhead transmitter heading, because you haven't indicated your location (post code) with regard to its location makes it impossible to assess your reception possibilities as far as the signal level expected from it is concerned, but in general terms your problem can be looked at in various ways.
If as you say using an indoor aerial (dependant on what, and where sited though!) and the situation was worse with nothing being received suggests you are in a very low signal area, this meaning if the signal path from the station is anywhere near (or over) trees etc you are liable to get fluctuations in signal strength, these being worse in rainy conditions.
Another factor has to be considered is that of the transmitter stations power supply being either reduced or cut to the because of weather conditions, more remote stations always being more vulnerable to this sort of thing with this obviously affecting transmission, but whatever the reason if your outdoor mounted aerial is stable and has not been knocked out of alignment then the situation is really out with your control.

For 2 days now I keep loosing the signal on every channel . When I do get a signal it keeps jumping and freezing. My neighbour has the same problem. I have rescanned but the problem is still there.

Andrea green: If your neighbour is experiencing exactly the same problem as yourself and you are NOT using a communal aerial then its possible that some fault has developed at the transmitter, its therefore best to refrain from carrying out any further rescan operations as all you will do is lose the channels already stored in your TV or boxes memory, if of course you haven't partially done so already!
Unable to make any checks on the status of the transmitter without knowledge of your post code, or at least one from nearby such as a shop / post office etc.

Andrea green: Although I suspected that you might be using the Garelochhead transmitter (@ 0.5 miles away) I also thought it prudent to check your location relative to that of the transmitter due to the nature of the terrain around that area, hence for my request for the P/code involved.
However, as far as your problems are concerned, nothing as yet was seen reported as far as any fault conditions being in existence, nor are there any indications of work being carried out at the transmitter, which by the way is located between a gap in the trees on the right hand side (going uphill) of the Whistlefield Road behind the Feorlin Way estate.
I do of course realise you have said that your neighbours are also experiencing problems and which I assume have their own separate aerial? therefore if at all possible, I would suggest that you try to make a few enquiries further along the roadway on your right heading towards the main part of the town for purposes of finding out if any problems exist in that area, as its possible that the aforementioned trees are partially obstructing the signal path to the Faslane side of the Loch.
Should anything be reported I will make another posting to this effect.

Andrea green: Yes, Michael is quite correct! as I have just spotted it as starting on the week commencing 25th albeit this fact not being mentioned on either the BBC's website nor the R/T investigation dept.

Our TV picture breaks up from time to time..not Sky.....could the cause be ..rain..high volume of traffic...or fault in the line...it happened today..just as the tennis was starting....weather was fine...

Jack Williams: The most obvious question is: is it tuned to the transmitter to which the aerial faces?
Are you tuned to Rosneath rather than Garelochhead? Bring up the signal strength screen on BBC One and observe the UHF channel tuned. Rosneath is on C49 and Garelochhead is on C42. Do the same for STV: Rosneath is on C58 and Garelochhead is on C45.
