Peter: Maybe there is a disused -top on whose runs down the building and for which you could route into the and feed into the distribution amp.

As I say, I'm not a professional, but I understand that there are certain regulations with regards aerial systems that serve multiple dwellings. I understand these require appropriate earthing as well as electrical isolation between the outlets. I can't be any more specific than that.

I urge due caution; obviously I'm not saying that a particular aerial "will" work.

I did this plot using Megalithia, assuming your aerial to be 18m of the ground:

As you can see, it would appear that you probably have line of sight (or near so). Only mile closest to you could have an obstruction on it as it is an incline.

For this reason, I wonder if a XB10B may be suitable:

The distribution amp will allow you to fine tune.

The higher the , the narrower the acceptance angle.

I am an resident who is abroad at the moment, but planned to cancel on my return and just get the basic digital via my old sky . Having read some of the problems people are having from Eastbourne, would I be better off staying with Sky? I only need the main 5 channels and the +1 channels.

Tom: The problems are in receiving the Commercial (COM) . These have limited coverage with respect to the Public Service Broadcaster (PSB) channels.

If you received four-channel before, then you should get at least the PSBs now.

The PSBs therefore have BBC, ITV1, ITV1+1, , Channel 4+1 and Channel 5, among others.

Tom: It mainly depends on which that you are receiving from as to what you'll get:

- | horizontal - Broadcasts PSBs and COMs. COM4 (ITV3 etc) is on low until 27th June on which date there is a retune for it. You might not get it until then.

- | aerial vertical - The COMs from Hastings use the same three frequencies as the PSBs from South Tower, so you may find them drowned out, or at least hit and miss, thanks to the .

- Eastbourne (South Tower) and Eastbourne Old Town (Jevington House, Upperton Road) | aerial vertical - These are PSB-only transmitters.

Thanks for the replies. As far as I know I am on the , so I will have to wait until June the 27th. Do a re-tune and see what I have then and make a decision.

Installed a Blake DMX10B ( range: 35-53) and installed as per instructions and turned to 349 degrees and yet still picked up which doesn't make sense how it has even with the group B range.

Peter: Try connecting a directly to the aerial and work from there. That way you are discounting the possibility with the distribution amp and cabling causing an issue.

Once you have tuned in your receiver's memory, then refer to the strength screen for one service on each mux.

So focus your attention on:

- BBC One (PSB1)
- ITV1 (PSB2)
- BBC One HD (PSB3)
- ITV3 (COM4)
- Pick TV (COM5)
- Yesterday (COM6)

Of course, your aerial "may" always pick up even though it points horizontally to Heathfield simply because Eastbourne is so strong.

Some receivers store the first channels found during the , and more sophisticated ones choose which to go with by assessing strengths having completed the scan. Whilst you will hopefully achieve a result where Heathfield is the stronger, the latter "may" always be an issue.

Different receivers are designed in a different ways. Some have limited functionality when it comes to manual tuning, signal strengths and other technical information. It might be worth looking at what devices you have to see which might be most useful to you site your aerial.
