The symbol shows the location of the Divis (Northern Ireland) transmitter which serves 440,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Divis (Northern Ireland) mast?

Samantha: Might be better to get someone out to have a look at your aerial set up just to make sure it isn't damaged.

At your location you should be receiving perfect reception from Divis, the NIMux at Black Mountain, and Saorview from Clermont Cairn.

I'd recommend Newtownabbey Aerials. Reasonably priced and he knows what he's doing.

You need a Freeview HD set top box or television in order to receive RTE or the NIMux from Black Mountain.

Hi PJH!

Re: Samantha's problem - I would be very careful regarding recommending any specific business on this forum. While you were maybe happy with the service you may have received from the company, any outcome for someone else may not meet their expectations and might have an effect on the credibility of this site.

Michael,

You were thinking that Samantha's problems might be because of interference from the Saorview's Mt Leinster transmitter - www.ukfree.tv link icon C23 (490.0MHz). Do you realise that this transmitter is over 200miles away from Garrickfergus?

Hi Samantha!

Have you tried resetting your receiver to 'Factory Reset' and then rescanning all the local UHF channels?

Regards

P. Kieran Ward: You realise that I put "Pauric: " at the start of my post? ;)

Just pointing out it could be that, as I don't know his exact location.

Kieran: I don't think any of that's the cause of Samantha's problems. We're simply beating around the bush here.

She should have perfect reception from Divis and the NI mux from Black Mountain, as well as Saorview from Clermont Cairn (try Digital UK's postcode checker if you don't believe me). Mt Leinster shouldn't even come onto the equation in Carrick.

and fine, if you don't want me to mention a specific installer that's no problem.

However, I'd have a look through Yellow Pages and get someone out (whoever she chooses). Looks like an aerial problem to me. Something like a loose connection or possibly water ingress.

You can spend a lot of time messing around with this type of thing and get nowhere. Better to get a professional to sort out the problem in my opinion.

For want of repeating myself, Divis should be absolutely no problem for someone living in Carrick.

Oh dear, I didn't realise anyone was commenting, sorry guys. Just for an update, it fixed itself the next day and has been perfect since, until last night when interference started on all channels included in Channel 21. It's mostly just that Channel so I think it might just be ongoing engineering. I was lucky enough to have sky before I moved house so honestly have no idea if this interference is normal, it certainly wasn't in Glengormley a few years ago. Well thanks for the suggestions everyone but I think i'll leave it as is. Sporadic and tempermental tv is better than no tv :)

I live in Newtownabbey in the Carnmoney Hill fill-in area. However I have bypassed that tx to get the additional services from Divis, and am receiving COM7 well with 60% strength / 100% quality.
Earlier this week I was receiving test tx from the local TV on C30, but with signal at 27%/10% it was mostly break-up. Last night however the signal on C30 was much stronger at 46%/80%, but with occasional severe dips to 10%/10%. Anyone else seeing this and any idea what is happening? Presumably the signal is being tweaked?
