The symbol shows the location of the Cupar (Fife, Scotland) transmitter which serves 4,500 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

just had a new channel added to freeview today and i live in cupar with a relay transmitter
and the new channel is FILM 4 a channel previously not available through the relay transmitter
is this a mistake or is cupar getting more freeview channels?
annoying thing is the epg says no information for film4 despite rebooting the freeview box 3 times including removing the ariel to completely wipe its memory then rebooting after putting the ariel back in its still the same

DONALD: I imagine that the EPG might populate eventually and perhaps could be speeded up by switching to Film4.
Film4 is not and is never likely to be available from the Cupar relay.
Judging by the postcode supplied on a previous posting of yours I would suggest that Film4 is coming in on UHF channel 49 (it will probably say this on the signal strength screen) which means it's coming from Angus.
Overnight the frequency of this channel changed to C49, as part of the clearance for 4G mobile services. As such it is on a lower frequency which your aerial may be more sensitive to (as it is within the range of frequencies used by Cupar and therefore within the frequency range of your aerial if it's not a wideband one).
It is also worth adding that you are managing to receive Film4 with your aerial vertical when the signal is horizontal. It really could be intermittent.
I think you could possibly be in with a shot of receiving all channels from Angus. The Digital UK predictor scores favourably. You don't quite have line-of-sight owing to Myrecairnie Hill but it isn't far off:

DONALD: I eat my words. The change to C49 happened on 17th April this year.

DONALD: This isn't looking good - not looking good for me!
Whilst it is true that Cupar will never carry the Commercial (COM) multiplexes, it is probably carrying Film4 now.
I am in another region and have just checked. I now have two Film4s - the one carried on the COM multiplex which you don't get and the one on the Public Service (PSB2) multiplex which you can get.
So it appears that Film4 is now available from all transmitters!
I don't know why the EPG hasn't built up for it. It has populated for both instances of Film4 for me. As this has only just happened I suggest that you leave it for now and hopefully it will right itself.
For listings, see www.film4.com

Dave Lindsay: I have had other people say that Film4 has moved to PSB2, with Film4+1 being listed for the service on COM6.
I would love to confirm it, but I only have a YouView box and it won't let you see changes until YouView approve of them.
I don't know if they are going to just squash Film4 into the existing capacity, or if Channel 4+1 is going to be ejected (or something).
Digital UK Industry - Listings shows nothing as yet (of course).

Briantist: Channel 4+1 is still broadcasting on PSB2. I wouldn't have thought that it would be moved to one of the COMs because it has regional variations.
Film4 on PSB2 and that on COM6 are broadcasting the same programme, so the latter isn't the +1 stream, yet. Both are titled "Film4", so no "Film4+1" just yet.
I have carried out a retune and PSB2's Film4 has assumed LCN15 and COM6's Film4 has moved to LCN791. LCN790 is "Test" on COM4.
BT Sport has moved to COM4, but BT Sport 1 and BT Sport 2 remain on COM6. (Can they not make up their minds where they are?!)
The rumour-mill is that a ninth stream has been fitted onto PSB2:

Briantist / Dave Lindsay: Just to confirm that Film 4 (LCN15) now corresponds to Walthams PSB2 as well as still being broadcast on COM6, LCN791 in my particular set up.

The reason i found out i had film4 was a popup on the screen saying a new channel had been added so i checked the epg and film 4 was listed but said no information available i then rebooted the freeview box but the epg then showed other channels had no information either
ive found if you unplug the ariel then reboot to clear the memory then reboot again with the ariel plugged in that it resets the epg why the epg responds like that when the box is rebooted is puzzling
sometimes putting the box on standby for five minutes helps also dont forget to check the autostandby setting as it defaults to 4 hours when its rebooted but this can be deleted so its doesnt switch the box off
doesnt look like cupar will get film4+1 though but can always use tvcatchup which has all the freeview channels that cupar cant get

forgot to add is it because of 4g that film 4 has moved to a different multiplex? also will 4g affect the relay transmitter in cupar and if so will i get one of the free filters trouble is i have two boxes in use one in the living room one in the bedroom but they only give you one filter which isnt exactly fair considering they (the mobile companies) are causing this problem that users have to pay in the region of up to £20 for a filter
will the bedroom box still work seeing as how the signal comes off the same ariel even with one filter fitted?

Cupar
Hi folks,
Hoping someone can help or point me in the right direction.
For the past week i have had a truly appauling reception for Freeview channels, they are consistantly un-watchable, pixelated, non moving images and with no sound.
However the only channels that do work with perfect clarity are 'all' BBC channels.
I live in Cupar which has very little in the way of a channel selection and until only recently has just started receiving Film 4.
Prior to all this there has been no problems with service/picture quality/sound what so ever. I noticed however that there is a possibility of a 4G mast nearby that could be the problem.
I'm using a Samsung HD Tv with built in Freeview, and i believe the signal is received by a mini sky type dish on the roof.
I have done a retune at least 3 times most days as well as a full factory reset with no luck.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Regards
