Lost a lot of freeview channels on MUX42 for example Quest. This has only happened for the past week. The signal strength displayed on the TV's has reduced to about 1 from 7. BBc Stv c4 etc ok.
A mobile phone mast about 2 hundred yards away has just been replaced, maybe for 4g instead of 3g. Could this be the cause?
There is a signal present as if I stand on the apex of the roof and hold the aerial higher it works. Neighbours ok even with loft aerials as their homes are higher.
If there has been no transmitter problem i presume i am going to have to install a high mast.

Darius: You're only a few miles from the transmitter - I don't think the fact COM muxes are at half power has anything to do with it... (otherwise you'd also have lost COM5 and 6!).

I live in Edinburgh EH8 8HH. For some time ( a few months now) I have not been able to get most of the freeview channels. The only channels I receive are bbc1, bbc2, bbc3, bbc4, itv1, itv2, channel 4, channel 4+1, more4, film 4 and E4. I have checked my area and I should apparently get 50 channels, 13 hd channels and 26 radio channels. As you can see I have minimal channels. When I retune my tv (it has built in freeview) if it does pick up another channel the picture quality is so bad it's unwatchable. The listed channels above are the only channels I can watch with a quality picture. What can I do as I'm not in a position to have Sky or Virgin or pay for someone to fix the outside aerial. I bought a new tv that has built in freeview and now I have this problem. I am supposed to have all these channels according to my location yet I don't. What is the problem that is affecting this and can it get fixed without me having to pay any money for channels that I should be receiving for free anyway.

Zoe Bell: The most likely reason for your problem is that you are receiving Freeview from the local Cannongate relay rather than the Craigkelly transmitter, this latter station located across the Firth of Forth near to Burntisland. Should you recently have had occasion to auto-tune your TV? then its difficult to understand how this could have happened, as your TV should have picked up Craigkelly first by the fact of it transmitting on channels much lower down the scale compared to those used by Cannongate, or indeed the Angus transmitter, Craigkelly's channels being in the 21 - 45 range whereas the others are 49 upwards, and TV's scan from 21 upwards.
You should carry out a manufacturers reset on your TV prior to another auto-tune, this procedure also known as "default setting" or "first time installation" and see if this cures the problem, if by any chance it doesn't, carry out a second reset, but this time "manually" tune in each of the multiplexes used by the Craigkelly transmitter, channels as below.
27 (BBC) - 24 (ITV) - 21(HD) - 42 (ITV3 etc) - 45 (Pick tv etc) - 39 (4Music) - 33 (BBC4 HD etc) - 30 (Local)
However, A quick browse at you location would suggest that you are resident in a large apartment block?, should this be the case, then you are likely to be connected into a communal aerial system, if this applies then you should try enquire with one of the other residents to find out if they are experiencing any problems with reception.

Last month or so, BBC1 signal on in-built Freeview on my Panasonic plasma tv has been dropping out every few seconds; it's really, really annoying! All other channels have excellent signal strength and a retune hasn't solved the issue. Am in Musselburgh, East Lothian and signal being picked up by aerial in our attic, facing Craigkelly, I think.
Any ideas?

donny: You havn't put a postcode into the site (which would bring up DigitalUK's site for your location, etc), but check your signal strength - it may be too high. Panasonic's are known to have sensitive tuners, BBC1 is usually the strongest signal, and if you've got 'excellent strength' on all other channels, you migth be exceeding the tuners limits, hence the drop outs (low and high signal strength can look very similar).
Put 'too much of a good thing' into the sites search box and go from there.
