This transmitter has no current reported problems
The BBC and Digital UK report there are no faults or engineering work on the Ridge Hill (County of Herefordshire, England) transmitter.UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

Current problems with Freeview in CHELTENHAM with very weak signal (pixellation)when trying to record Channels 4 and 5 but relatively OK watching live. Have bought a completely new system , TV and recorder, to try and solve problems before Xmas but the Ledbury transmitter just gives continual problems. Problems then were with BBC1. TV engineer visited 3 times and could not sort it out. Aerial checked out OK.
WHATEVER IS GOING ON!!!!!!!!!

Peter Mitchell - The Ledbury/Ridge Hill transmitter was down for about 5 min yesterday. If you put your postcode into the site, it will tell you bearing, strength, etc..
Since we havn't seen any other complaints, its likely its your system. Firstly - what is your signal strength? Pixellation can be cause by too high a signal, as well as too low. A postcode would be a big help. And what transmitter are you actually tuned into?
Next, check your equipment. If C4/5 are fine watching, but not good in recording, that might point to a wiring problem, so are you looping through the signal to the TV, or does it have a different path? And although you say your aerial is fine, what about the rest? I know the engineer has been out 3 times, but....
Why did you buy a new TV and recorder? If your having problems with the signal, then the bit at the end of the line will generally react in the same way, although a decent brand will have more sensitive tuners. But of course, that can also be a problem.

BBC stations are not available on DAB radio this morning while some other stations, eg Absolute Radio, are. I live in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, HR9 5NA and the websites seem to show 'no reported problems' - which there are. Ant thoughts ?

We lost all signals from Ridge hill transmitter at about 1:15 am Sunday 1st May. All ok at 7am again. This is the second time in the last week at about the same time. Any body else seeing similar problems.?.

We have had no reception whatever from the Ridge hill transmitter for over a week. This has been the longest break we have ever suffered. If it is sad verdict on the digital system which is probing car loss reliable than the old analogue system.
Last time I complained you told me to use the Whitcliffe relay. Unfortunately this does not provide the full range of programmes as Ridge Hill does yet we still have to pay the same licence fee. Unfair, surely?
Is it not way past time that extra power is put into the Ridge Hill transmitter so that a fair service is provide to all and not leave us just the victims of a postcode lottery.

Vince Bufton: There isn't a link showing to your previous post so I can't see on what basis you were advised to used Whitcliffe. The licence fee only funds the BBC and S4C, it is not a subscription and does not entitle you to receive any commercial channels. If Freeview is proving so unreliable for you then perhaps you should look at getting Freesat, which has all of the licence fee funded channels and most of the commercial channels available on Freeview, plus various others.

Vince Bufton:
Steven may have misunderstood that you have posted on the DAB radio page for RidgeHill and if that is what you are referring to, then his comments aren't technically applicable.
Reception can be frequently disrupted periodically by propagation (weather) conditions. I'm afraid there is going to be some of this (tropospheric ducting) over the next few days which could cause interference/loss of signal.

Chris.SE: Rather than me misunderstanding anything I was going by the content of the post, I think Vince may have posted on the DAB page by mistake (people seem to post about Freeview on DAB pages a lot). If Vince could clarify and provide a postcode, someone may be able to offer more specific advice.

I thought the way I responded basically addressed that point! And my comments about reception apply to TV or Radio.
If it's TV then if he puts his postcode into Digital UK - Coverage checker it'll say what transmitters he can receive and the predicted reception. As you say without a postcode, can't provide more specific advice and clarification is needed. btw I can't find trace of any transmitter at a location of Whitcliff(e)!

For the last week or so the channel 21multiplexor's output has been flakey on my TV. Looking at the channel 21 signal shows circa 65% strength and most of the time signal quality is 100%. But quality sporadically drops to below 80% - whatever that means.
All the other tuned in channel multiplexors are also circa 65% strength, but their quality stays consistently at 100% - I see no sporadic drops.
I suspect the channel 21 issue is not in my TV or aerial.
