Hi,
I used to get good DAB reception for Radio 4, 5 and 4 Extra but recently I am getting a weak signal with lots of crackling. I see that these stations are being broadcast from Huntshaw Cross at 2500W and other stations at 4000W. When will the signal strenth be increased for the stations on 2500W?
Thanks, Hugh.

Hugh Blackburne: I imagine that the likely answer is that the "other" multiplexes are on higher power owing to them not having as many other transmitters around Huntshaw Cross.
That is, the BBC (spends more money) on installing more transmitters and this may explain why the power of the Huntshaw Cross transmitter isn't as great as the others.

p cocks: If you're getting BBC Radio Wales then it's definitely coming from a Welsh transmitter. Capital UK and Classic FM are national DAB stations broadcast from hundreds of transmitters all over the UK.

The BBC reported a fault the other day -
From 11:06am to 11:25am on 11th Jan 2023 BBC B HD Slightly reduced power due to a fault
That should obviously have been fixed, so unless it's re-occurred and not yet been reported, probably best just to check your coax plug connections etc. and that your aerial is still intact and pointing correctly.

When will the people of North Devon be able to receive Times Radio on DAB+ radios...haven't we waited long enough?

Graham Prosser :
As you probably know, Times Radio is carried on the SDL Commercial National 2 multiplex which isn't currently transmitted from Huntshaw Cross. The only Devon transmitters that have it are Beacon Hill and Exeter St.Thomas.
As this isn't Times Radio's website or Arqiva's (see https://www.arqiva.com/me…-dab ) neither are likely to see your post here.
Whether they consider it commercially viable to further expand the SDL coverage at this time, we can't say.
You'd be better writing to Times Radio and Arqiva.
