The BBC and Digital UK report there are no faults or engineering work on the Belmont (Lincolnshire, England) transmitter.UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

I live in Hull and have just bought a Pure Classic DAB radio. I seem only to be able to receive D1 National stations, looking at the map above I seem to be just on the edge of the BBC channels which were the main ones I wanted. Have you any ideas of how I can improve my signal or any radios's that do work in this area? Any help much appreciated.

Debbie: Take your radio to upstairs, preferably to a window with a good view in the direction of Belmont. Scan and see what stations you get.
From Belmont, the signal for D1 is the same as BBC, (except for different frequency). Therefore, I don't think that you're that far off getting it.
The thing is that DAB radios usually require a scan to pick up stations. Obviously they only pick up stations that can be found at the exact location that they are in, which is why I suggest that you take the radio to somewhere where the likelihood is greater. If you successfully get BBC national stations, then they will be added to your radio's memory.
Then bring the radio back to the room you had it in. Having scanned successfully, you can then move the radio around whilst tuned to one of the BBC national stations. You should be able to get an idea of whereabouts in the room that the signal is the best.
It might be beneficial not to have your radio near to your computer and other equipment such as router or cordless telephone base unit.

I have recently bought a Cambridge Audio DAB tuner for my Hi-fi system. It is connected to an outside aerial. I receive a full-strength signal and the sound is superb. I listen to Radio 3 and Classic FM and every so often there is a very noticeable blip in the signal which is annoying and spoils the overall sound. Sometimes the signal will drop out for 3 or 4 seconds. Has anybody else experienced this?

Is/was there a problem with DAB off Belmont over the weekend?
Driving through Lincs on Sunday, D1 kept cutting out and BBC DAB showed weak signal. On Monday morning D1 was No Signal but BBC DAB was back up to Strong Signal.
There's nothing showing on the information about any faults.

We live in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. DAB drops out many times a day for between a few seconds to up to a minute or two. It affects all Digital stations on a number of different radios of a variety of makes.
This has been happening for more than 12 months.
I once managed to get an email to reach someone to complain about it and I got the standard "There are no reported problems with the transmitters in your area" reply.
It is very frustrating. Fortunately I still have an FM receiver as part of my Lo-Fi.
Unless someone is broadcasting on the DAB signal range - like the local Ambulance Station, or factories, then I haven't a clue.
