This transmitter has no current reported problems
The BBC and Digital UK report there are no faults or engineering work on the Balgownie (Aberdeen City, Scotland) transmitter.UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. I've experienced a drop in the Aberdeen DAB radio signal from 19th June,. All BBC, local radio and Classic is fine but can't now get other national, e.g. Absolute radio on any of my DAB radios, across the whole of the city. This site says there's no problem, but there is!!!

Hello, is anybody else in the Dyce/Aberdeen area having trouble receiving BBC DAB radio stations (R1, R2, R3, R4) from the Balgownie transmitter as from yesterday (Sat 25 June 2016) afternoon? Both our digital radios are not picking up any BBC stations, even after re-scanning. BBC Scotland and BBC Gaelic plus a bunch of commercial stations are still OK.

Hi there, I agree with the previous post, some BBC DAB radio stations e.g. R4, World Service, have stopped working. The signal for Radio Scotland has never been stable here (Bridge of Don) so I use FM instead. Very disappointing as there has been no explanation from BBC - something to do with the Brexit vote?

Mike Martin: Hi, Mike. BBC Radio 4 and BBC World Service are on the BBC National DAB group of stations
(multiplex), which is on Channel 12B on DAB, whereas BBCRadio Scotland is on the Aberdeen local group of stations on channel 11C, frequency 220.352 MHz. For residents towards the North West of Aberdeen city centre, the recommended transmitter is currently Meldrum, which transmits 12B at 10,000 watts but 11C at 8,500 watts. I notice that Dyce is not listed as a location where good reception of the local Aberdeen multiplex is reliable, although there are plans, I believe, to put it on to the Redmoss transmitter, known for carrying A.M. signals to Aberdeen, and much nearer than Meldrum, which is up at Smithy Croft. I don't know when this is likely to be done, but some say before the end of September. Try ensuring your aerial is pulled right up and the radio is preferably upstairs and near a window. Try doing a manual tune to channel 11C on 220.352 MHz FOR BBC RADIO Scotland. Hope this helps, Richard, Norwich.

Richard Cooper: distorted reception for BBC radio 4 on all DAB radios at AB23 8GE, from yesterday, 27th June 2016. Have tried retuning to no avail. Is there a problem with the Balgownie transmitter? Something is obviously not right.

mel: HI, just came across this page whilst looking for some info on this. I'm in the AB22 postcode and have always had an excellent DAB signal. Unfortunately all my BBC Stations apart from Radio Scotland have not been available since Sat morning,. Obviously an issue but not sure how you go about getting any info on this from anyone.

George: Here is the telephone number you need with options choice numbers from their menu. This is the BBC's number for reporting reception problems:-
Telephone: 03700-100-123, selecting option 2, then option 1, I think, but listen carefully to the options and choose whatever is most appropriate for you. Hope this helps, Richard, Norwich.

Hi folks. Glad to see others from around Aberdeen adding their comments about the sudden loss of the major BBC DAB stations since Saturday 26th. I am in AB25, always had good DAB reception until now. I have reported the problem via the BBC telephone number as above. No progress yet - and local transmitters are still showing "no problems" - but I hope we can get to the bottom of it! Cheers.
