Brian Butterworth raises some valid and long overdue questions about the cost of the BBC Scotland newsroom but the figures in broadcast are spurious and disingenuous. They include the cost of distribution around the terrestrial transmitter network which is proportionately more expensive in areas of low population. When it comes to spend on production and administration the BBC trust instructed the BBC top dogs nearly eight years to bring that spend in proportion to the number of licence fees raised in each country. Needless to say it hasn't happened and with shows commissioned years ahead they won't achieve it in the foreseeable future. On the other side of the coin, the geography of Scotland means an independent BBC Scotland would have trouble making ends meet.

I live on the south side of Glasgow and because of local geographical features (a steep hill right behind the house and tall trees to the south etc. we cannot receive any signal from Harthill and Darvel - the main transmitters for this area.
I have pointed the aerial directly at the Rosneath transmitter. It is 41km away and without an amplifier there is no useable signal. but with an amp placed in the eaves near where the cable enters the roof we can now receive clear signals of PSB1 (BBCA) Channel 49
PSB2 (D3+4) Channel 58
PAB3 (BBCB) Channel 54
Signal strength ranges between 80% and 90% according to my television and it rates the signal quality at 100% on all 3 channels.
However,
COM4 (SDN) Channel 53
COM5 (ArqA) Channel 57
COM6 (ArqB) Channel 57
Show as zero signal.
I am plugging directly into the TV - an LG 42LM 670T.
Can anyone help me me fix this or at least understand why?
