More importantly, why have I lost channels 45 (Film4 + 1) and 86 (More4 +1) and gained Channel 65 (TBN - an unwatchable American religious channel) from the Todmorden relay?

Yes, you're quite right. Freeview seemed quite surprised when I told them that I used to receive 45 and 86. The rubric for the Todmorden relay on this page needs to be changed.

If you don't use their services, you don't pay the licence fee. If you use the roads in a car you have to pay a tax.

The BBC isn't left-wing or right-wing, as you can see when both extremes say it favours the other one.
