COM7 and COM8 are temporary services and are expected to cease around 2022 when more of the multiplexes are broadcast using the DVB-T2 coding scheme which can carry more data. That cannot be done until most receivers are able to handle that form of coding, but there are still too many older Freeview TVs that cannot, only those marked as Freeview HD can.
All 30 of the main transmitters that are carrying COM7 and COM8 will be using channels 55 and 56 - it's known as a single frequency network and does not cause any known problems. They don't use that scheme for all channels as the programme content differs across the country allowing regional news for example. COM7 and COM8 only carry services that are the same right across the UK.

COM7 and COM8 are working normally at the Bluebell Hill transmitter according Digital UK. The transmitters are operated and maintained by Arqiva and they work with Ofcom and the European regulators to determine the scheme of transmissions. Arqiva can be contacted at https://www.arqiva.com/co…us/.

The Dover Freeview transmitter carries all 6 of the multiplexes that most full service transmitters broadcast. It does not carry COM7 nor COM8 which are only temporary services. So if you have a Freeview HD television you should be getting all the available channels. Note that you need to be using an wideband aerial aimed at the transmitter.
Your local Dover DAB transmitter carries most of the available services. Some are not offered as the operator probably does not consider it commercially viable to offer their services, they have to pay to be transmitted from each transmitter.

You are 18km away from the Wrekin transmitter which is too far for reliable reception with an indoor aerial. You need an external (or loft mounted) wideband aerial aimed at the transmitter to get reliable reception again.

You are just 28km away from the Crystal Palace transmitter so should be getting an excellent signal reliably. As that transmitter serves almost all of London, if it had problem there would be thousands of complaints - but there are none. So your system has a problem. Check all your aerial cables are undamaged and that all the connections are in good order. If there are coaxial plugs/sockets then unplug those and refit them. Then check what channels you are getting. I am assuming you have afairly new wideband aerial fitted to tget all 8 multiplexes.

To offer any useful answer we need you to provide a full post code for your location. There are several different transmitters around you and the post code will enable us to look at which is the most likely to give reliable reception for you.
Because of all the hills and buildings around, that makes it important to choose the best option.

You are only 5km from the Kidderminster transmitter so it is possible that you m ay have too much signal. Please check what signal strengths are being shown on your TV set (it's usually in the manual tuning section but DO NOT RETUNE). It ideally needs to be between 60% and 85%, usually if it is more than that level you get severe problems.

After 2022, or thereabouts, they will not exist at all so will not be in the 700MHz band. 5G is not expected to be generally available until at least 2022 so those multiplexes will not cause any problems as they will be removed in time for the 5G service.

We contributors have said many, many times that the owner of this site is the only person who can do any updates and that he is not currently available. So the site has not been updated for some months.
If you require channel allocation or reception predictions then please look at the Digital UK website pages, such as that at http://www.digitaluk.co.u…ker.
