Thanks for comments. I know that Argos will replace/ refund if problem persists as I will be within 30 days re faulty goods. I've never had any problems with them regarding that in the past and find them pretty good
Model is Bush BU11FVRSD50 Interestingly this is actually an exchange/replacement for the one I bought at the end of August(same model). That one had problems with playback of recordings freezing, pixellation, jumping etc although there was no problem with "live" transmissions only when playing back recordings. The replacement did not seem to have those problems and touch wood apart from the EPG problem is so far ok although I've only had it for less that a week.
I don't know whether the machine's tuner is more sensitive than the others and the original machine may have been ok. Fingers crossed that everything will be ok post-21st.

Terry, I live nearby in CV11 and have the same problems
See my earlier post for details. I have had ongoing similar problem with EPG/reception on my Bush HDD recorder purchased etc 5 Sept from Argos.I am also getting pixellation, freezing and loss of reception on all channels but particularly the "new" BBC Channels for ALL their channels not just BBC1 when watching "live" TV via this device. This has got progressively worse since the weekend when I last posted and the device is now totally unusable for all practical purposes My other 2 boxes and 2 Samsung TVs all work perfectly.(fingers crossed for post 21st) The Bush HDD recorder also worked perfectly prior to 7 September(its purportedly a new recorder manufactured this year according to its batch number so it can't be defunct either !I accept different devices have different levels of sensitivity and whilst one device is ok another isn't) I was told eaxactly the same as you by Argos Technical support i.e that this will correct after 21 September. Are we being fobbed off ?or have been sold equipment not fit for purpose ? Who knows ? But if we are... I suspect that various retailers etc will be inundated with calls and requests for refunds on 22 September for faulty goods and Digital UK will be inundated also but for the moment I will give them the benefit of the doubt during this transition period......but it certainly seems that there are monumental problems throughout the region with receiving transmissions on some equipment(and equipment that should actually work being brand new or at the required spec)
By the by I have carried out the above procedure...Several times andit has made absolutely no difference whatsoever

Thanks I have ordered an attentuator to put in between the aerial cable and HDD box and waiting delivery from Amazon. It's certainly worth a try for £3.99 + free pp as when I disconnected the aerial lead from the box to carry out the above procedure I didn't move the end of the aerial far enough away from the recorder and the signal was jumping the few inches between and was able to scan in channels even though it shouldn't have been able to
I had an aerial upgrade and power booster/distributor fitted in August by installer in the loft ready for the DSO so you could be right the Bush may not be able to handle the stronger signal unlike the others.
I'll give it a go.
It was certainly much easier when TVs were powered by valves like my parents TV in the 1950's although the picture was black and white ans pretty grainy....what price progress eh ?

I don't think HD Service is available at your postcode until this Wednesday after final DSO. On/after 21st if you do a full re-scan you should get them if you have a HD receiver

No problems in my postcode area...receiving all channels from 5am at full strength(inc full EPG info) on all TVs,set top boxes and PVR. Duplicate channels that have been plaguing me for past fortnight and affecting reception have now dis-appeared after re-tune. Fingers crossed that it'll be plain sailing from here on in
Thanks for help

I have a problem with getting EPG details on my new Bush HDD Recorder which I bought Mon from Argos. It worked perfectly before 7th September. It receives all channels perfectly but does not have any EPG details for BBC1,BBC2,BBC3,BBC4,BBC News,BBC Parliament,CBBC,CBeebies or Red Button. All other channels have full EPG details. I also have a set of shadow channels for BBC(NIL% Signal according to machine)but they all have EPG details ! I telephoned Argos Helpline and was told that it was because the signal was too weak(the signal according to machine ranges between 64% -78% with 75% quality)When I pointed out that other channels inc shadow ones have much lower signal and have full EPG he said this was irrelevant ? He said that after 21 September things will correct(I'm beginning to suspect this is the catch all excuse at the moment..I wonder what will happen on 22 September if it doesn't ?)
I have carried out above procedures several times to no avail. As a matter of interest I have also 3 Samsung IDtVs,one old Alba Digital recorder and an old Philips set box.All these receive channels perfectly and all have full EPG details for all channels inc BBC.
I know this is a small issue compared to the other problems people are experiencing but it is really annoying to have spent out £100 and find it's the new recorder that has the problems and you can't actually set timer record.Incidentally the machine has no facility for manual retune..it's all automatic !!
I'd be interested if anyone else is experiencing this problem. I suspect it's an equipment issue but I'd think several hunderds of these things must have been sold recently they can't all be having the same problem with EPG on BBC ? Can they ??
